Nothing huge to report. Been enjoying driving her on the weekends. Busy with other projects. Need to get the oem decals cut still and install the sliders/lockers. Just got a spoon gun attachment for my MIG so aluminum drawers and roof rack are next :) also installed a mile marker 9k winch and synthetic line yesterday and trimmed the 79 pickup grille to fit better. I'll try and remember to take pics of the grille tonight. Took these pics this weekend.

Thanks guys. As far as the spool, the only reason I'm running it is that the 4Runner is not my daily! Lol. I've driven welded diff cars before. It's not that bad, but it can get old in certain situations. It's cheap and effective for a rig that will hopefully spend most it's life off road.

Sounds like you're aware that a spool is not the best choice for a road driven rig. Rain, snow, slick mud can all be downright dangerous with a locked rear, not to mention the uneven tire wear.

I used to run a spool in my 510 Datsun on the street, because it was an occasional track car too. It wore out the front tires faster than the rears, from pushing into the turns. But then I didn't care because I got free take-offs from the guys at Skip Barber.

Absolutely. It definitely takes some getting used to. I know it used to chunk up my high performance tires quickly, I'm curious to see what it does to mud terrains.

So stoked on your rig man! So nice. I was talking with my brother a few weeks back about doing a front grill and headlights from an 81 in my 1st gen. You're the first person I've seen with it and it looks awesome. Love the round headlights. Great attention to detail and looking forward to following your thread. Cheers!

Do you have any pictures of the snorkel up close? How did you attach it to the air box?

Thanks.
