I am interested in this trailer and before i make the drive to purchase, i would like to get some feed back.
I would like to use in the White Rim Trail at Utah.
Alpine Loop at Colorado.
...and some Baja washboard roads.
This is to give an idea on what I will use this trailer.

Your thoughts and input are appreciated.

I don't know if anyone will have much info on that specific camper, but the style is well regarded by people not looking to take the trailer over technical trails.

If it was local to me I'd be giving it a very hard look.

I just bought a Kamparoo and took it on a 3,000 mile journey. Although most of it was pavement we were on washboards part of the time. Did great. I am talking to Glenn at Kamparoo though to modify the suspension and fit 265/75/16's to match the KJ. THis is just so my spares fit both though. It did fine with the smaller tires.

Camp-o-matic and Cub are actually two different companies but make a similar product. Both are still around and make great trailers. If you contacted the guys at Camp-o-matic in Oz I'm sure they'd help you with any info you want. I do believe the company was sold several years ago so knowledge by current owners may not be as good but worth a try.

Interesting that it operates much like the Kimberley Kamper. I don't see any gas struts to help with flipping the top open, but it looks lighter and may not need them. And the price is much more digestible than the KK. Assuming the canvas is as good as it says, it sounds like a pretty good deal.

There could be a few spots on the Alpine Loop where it might better have bigger tires, but you should be OK.

Hard to tell if the axle is currently set up with a spring over. I'd give it a try if it's currently spring under before raising it.

Thank you guys for all the great responses, keep them coming.

I did some research and it seems like the Kamparoo was born of this design, furthermore this trailer seems to be an Off-Road Cub it appears to be taller then the owners Jeep, however the tires are still 13" and because of this I am worry it will bounce alot on washboard roads!

We love our Kamparoo and have taken it over some fairly technical areas. Mengal pass in Death Valley being one of them. It did great.

As for bouncing on washboards, most any trailer that is light and has short, heavy rate springs is going to have this issue. Tire/wheel size isn't so much the issue but spring rate. Ours has the Transcontinetal kit which adds the 14" wheels (more clearnance) and shocks which helps control bouncing. I have thought about modifying things to make it a 3 link with air bags but we just haven't really justified the need as it does great everywhere we go.

Nice thing is being somewhat wide and low CG, it hasn't even come close to being "tippy" on the trail. I have seen 3 different AT trailer just about flop (due to driver error, not any design flaw).

The one you are looking at is a entry model so it doesn't have as many features as our Weekender and keep in mind these really don't have internal storage for the most part so if you can live with that, it will work well. We love having a queen size bed, a full floor/room to easily stand up in, to get dressed, even cook/eat if the weather is cold and windy outside. Being up off the ground is great too.

Good luck and seems like a good price.

I emailed about this trailer, too. It's basically a tent on wheels, with none of the accessories current models have. It has no lighting, seating, table, kitchen, bath/shower, water tanks, internal storage, annex, awnings, etc. If it could be fitted with some of these things, I think it would be great! But I don't know enough about them to know if/how it could be done.

Interesting, so if the price is 1000.00 would it be better!

Given the fact that it has 13" tires and very light, I wouldn't feel comfortable dragging through the areas mentioned on the first post. You can't easily accommodate a 15 or 16" tires due to the lack of fenders - too large of a tire will hit the plywood that is under your mattress. However, it'd be a great tent trailer to tow behind a car on the hwy!

Now, if you take the box off the frame and build a completely new frame with proper rated springs, larger tongue (for a nice kitchen box), proper hitch setup (Tregg for instance) and appropriate suspension travel then it'd be a GREAT off road camper. The most important piece, the tent, is already present so a stronger chassis made with off roading in mind would be the route I'd want to go with it. Assuming you can have it for dirt cheap.

Given the fact that a Kamparoo can be had for less than $4k, you'll need to weigh the old "time vs money" equation for a project with this scope.

My Kamparoo Weekender Transcontinental pack is made for off roading with 15" tires and sprung over but certainly not made super beefy. However, it served as a good foundation to build a decent off road camper out of it. It's weight is around 1500 lbs wet.

Just my .02 cents worth.
