Camp Stove Storage

How do you store your camp stove?

I have a coleman grill/stove combo that I end up just putting up in the cab of my pickup to keep it out of the weather, but it eats up valuable space. I'd like other options.... Something waterproof that can protect the stove from getting to banged up? Pelican maybe? what size? Other options?

I use a large Action Packer for the Kitchen box and it slides right in. Keeps clean and dry.

Thinking about making a chuck box though.

Large Action Packer too.
Stove and the box it came in fit perfectly, then I can pack other gear around it.

Another vote on the Action Packer. I keep my entire camp kitchen in one. The large AP is just about at the threshold of manageable weight though, so don't overload it too much if you like your back.

I also use a cast iron griddle quite often on camping trips, and store this in a canvas bag next to the stove.

Action Packer for my traditional Coleman but I also own a newer coleman...

Which folds and is carried w/ 2 propane bottles in it's own special bag (came with it).

Have only used it a few times so we'll see how good the longevity is on the bag and stove. So far it's fine except I cant use it with my stove stand any more because it folds and falls into the stand unless I add a couple of bars to stop it from doing that.

That looks like a pretty neat idea. I can understand the problem of where to set it up, but it seems pretty compact, and holding the gas bottles next to it is cool.

Good replies so far. keep 'em coming.

Action Packer would be perfect for me, except a large one won't fit in the space I need it to fit in. I only have 13" of height there. I'm using a small action packer for the rest of my kitchen supplies (including my cast iron skillet - LOVE it!).

What size Pelican's are people using?

I store my dual burner propane along with a small pot and frypan set, spatula, ladel and dish set in a small cheap simple duffel bag. Works fine. I guess it could get dented, but the stove is 1/3 the cost of a Pelican case so... And in the bag, all this takes up less room than in a box.

Could also easily build a nice wooden case that would fit the stove like a glove and not look too bad if you used birch ply.

I also have a spot where I have just enough space to hold the stove. I found a storage box a Target that would hold the stove as well as extra hoses, a regulator, and a cleaning kit, i.e., a pocket universal cleaning kit for several pistol calibres. Not fancy but it keeps the dirt out of the stove and it is cheap.

That may be the route I take. Need to take some measurements and run by Target and see what they've got.
