For those of you that would like one of the most ultimate turn key expedition vehicles or just would like to tour the world starting tomorrow:wings: , this is your chance. The Campa USA Expedition Vehicle System (EVS) prototype is now for sale. I wanted to post it here first for eyes that will appreciate it.

The vehicle is being sold to make room for the full size top secret diesel EVS project starting soon. I observed and participated in the design and construction of this vehicle and can speak independently about its craftsmanship and capabilities. Serious interests can reach me through my shop. Price is not flexible as I have receipts to back up the value.

Check it out :jumping: here.....http://www.lokeytrucks.com/ Just click on Inventory.

The EVS has been at my house for the past 2 days. What an amazing rig. 65k sounds like alot but I really do no think you could put the rig together yourself for less. THere is so much time and though in it that it is a really amazing machine. I drove it this morning for the first time and it was a really great truck. Super comfy even more so then my decked out suburban.

The list of mods on that truck are so far beyond what is on the "spec sheet" it is unreal. Details, details details. Can't wait to see the full size version coming out next. Some one should buy this thing there is not a better expo truck out there period.

EVS on eBay

The EVS was listed last June on eBay. It was item number 290128937685. The auction ended with high bid of only $25,100, which did not meet the reserve price.

I think you could duplicate the EVS system for today's asking price of $65,000, but only if you were willing to do the work yourself.

One starting point might be a Tacoma 4x4 with aluminum flatbed and fiberglass cap from Ute Ltd. http://www.uteltd.com/

If you don't like the cap, you could install boxes made to the dimensions you prefer

Ute Ltd has an aluminum ladder rack that's strong enough to support a rooftop tent

The EVS is for sale because they are building a full size version for Dodge to spec for military and rescue use. The Toyota was a concept for a turn key consumer product. Toyota, a solid vehicle, unfortunately cannot work with the US government the way domestic manufacturers can. The next best thing US product wise was the Dodge 2500HD (b/c of the solid axle).

No sense having $130,000 in inventory around when you could have half of it on the books. Simple business.

The trailer could come with it for another 23K. For those of you not familiar with the product, consider doing some research. 100% stainless steel in both products. Super low CG in both. The ute bed is a cool idea for a similar feel on a budget, but the frame would not maximize fluid storage and cg the way the Campa does. I wish they had more $$ for their website to show an exploded diagram. The pictures do not do it justice. Perfection is expensive...

As far as price goes, you get more features and durability in this product than with similar fiberglass or van/rv based solutions for about 35% less $$$. Forget about UNI and Roamer products in the 6 figure range. Also good solid products, but twice the expense.......

Glad to see you are checking it out....The tents are also made by Campa and will be available for review soon. I will say that they will be less than imports with better materials. Stainless frame and hardware canvas is current spec ops materials with, anti-bacterial, rip stop, anti-mildew, impregnated badness. 0 maintenance and you can cut it with a knife then try to rip it with no success. Close it wet for two months and when you open it like new. (sorry Chris, good research though)

Cheers,

Ditto the endorsement of Campa build quality. I have one of their trailers, and it's an impressive piece of machinery. Exceptionally stout and well put-together.

My tent is a larger earlier generation, sourced from Howling Moon in South Africa. I understand the newer Campa tents are lighter and generally superior.

Adventure trailers alternative

If you don't have $65,000, then consider the Adventure Trailers alternative. The camper module starts at $4000, not including tent (or truck).

No release date yet but after speaking with Anne the other day she indicated that the tent that is on the EVS would be in the $1500-1800 price range once they got a production center lighned up. All the tents are made to order at this point and built individually so costs are alot higher right now.
