Your Hawk is a bit shorter than the F-250 bed. I was under the impression that the Hawk would fill the full length of an F-250 short bed. I'm in shopping mode now and am seriously considering an F-250 SB coupled with a 6.5' pop up. Ford lists 81.8" on 2012 F-250 and FWC lists 80" floor length in the Hawk. I assumed that was the inside dimension but maybe it's the external dimension.

So many choices to slow down decision making but your photos (and other's as well) give me motivation to be more deliberate in making a decision.

I have a 2009 F250 SB and the bed length is 6'9". The standard Chevy & Dodge SB box is 6'6". I found this out when I tried to snug my Northstar TC650 to the front of the box., it got close by did leave a gap in front. I now use that area to put my lawn chairs in. My Northstar has the wrap around rear end so your Hawk will fit snug to the front of the box, but will have a slight gap between the tailgate and rear of camper.

Hey Mike,
Its a 99' ford SD. I would have to measure the exact bed length, but you could probably do a quick internet search. 1990 hawk on there. Back then they were about 6" shorter. Not sure when FWC changed that. If you buy new, you would have to take the tailgate off.

Only two downsides I can think of to having the tailgate on is 1) you have to bend down every time you go in the camper 2) someone could close the tailgate while you are in the camper. That can easily be fixed.

You have one of the best rigs out there. Simple, classic, and it's set up just right for what you use it for. I like the fact that you can use the tailgate as a porch. :sombrero:
