Camping Kichen Kickstarter

You know, the idea of a "camp kitchen" or "chuck box" has been tried multiple times and every example I know of has been discontinued for lack of sales. I think one of the difficult things about it is making it big enough to be useful, but not so big that it is too heavy and cumbersome to manhandle, and also making it affordable. In the kickstarter link above they are talking about a price of $275 - $300. You can buy a whole lot of plastic tubs for less money than that.
.
I actually had a metal chuck box that I used from about 2009 until 2013. It was OK but too big and heavy to really be easy to carry around - it simply took up too much space and was too heavy. I sold it earlier this year and on multiple camping trips this Summer, I haven't missed it a bit.

Martin those are excellent points. The value-added usually isn't there. Just throw down tailgate and pull out the plastic tubs and stove.
That said, that Kanz bear proof video is pretty sweet, from joelbert's link above.

For the price of the Kickstarter Kitchen, Timberline Camp Kitchens is another option. Not all the same features, but people have different needs.

I like the layout and built in legs of the Camp Caddy, but could do without the wheels and handle. At a $125 - $150 delivered price point I'd be all over it. I'm needing something to throw in the galley of my teardrop that would also expand "counter top" workspace.

If you need more countertop, you can get a 5' long folding table that will sit flat on a floor and takes up very little room. That's what I use when solo camping and we use one with the teardrop as well. In fact, we normally cook on the table rather than the teardrop's galley, for that very reason. 5' is a LOT of counter space!
