I spent a night in Germany on my way to Hungary. Got a bit lost and just googled the nearest campsite, the one I found was nice and quiet. :) And thanks to the rain I got to test my homemade awning. :)

Coolest campsite in the history of forever.

Base camp - Check
Off road vehicle - Check.
Expedition points - Infinity.

Wow, some cool stuff. TGreening....does the lunar lander count as a hardshell camper?

Funny shaped tear drop?

Seriously though. I look at that photo and feel seriously humbled. I go camping with my pack and hammock, or my van and my dog, and the worst thing I have worry about is running out of milk for my cereal. These guys were SERIOUS. trail blazers. Never been a group of people in all history more "on their own" than those guys. Some serious intestinal fortitude right there.

And when we arrived, and part of the reason we chose this spot, we found these cinder blocks set up and used it for a grill. Also turned a couple on their side above the fire and filled the holes with smaller pieces of wood to dry them out.

Forgot the spatula:

What I like about this rig and my old truck camper is the small footprint and no camp set up other than pulling out a chair and maybe a small table to hold a beverage. I find my spot, check level, done.
