I'll be honest, I like my Nikon stuff but this camera has me giving a lot of thought to a system switch. My only concern is the autofocus. From what I hear it's the same system that was/is on the 5D, and the 5D has been plagued with autofocus inaccuracy issues. Hopefully that is something that has been corrected.

There's really no need to do that over one feature, just wait a year, and I bet Nikon will have the exact same feature in whatever they come up with. I was thinking the same when I saw the D300, but then all of my glass would be useless.

It's really not the video that has me thinking about a switch, it's the 21 megapixels, low noise/high ISO, lowest priced full-frame camera that has me considering this system swap. Most of my lenses are DX lenses, so even if I was to upgrade to something like a D700 I'd need some new glass. Really to me the HD video is simply a very nice bonus.PhoenixGSU said:

I echo your disappointment. Like everyone else, I waited a LONG time for this update to the 5D, hoping for overall improvements in all relevent systems.
Personally, I think it is a big disappointment for the MkII to have an autofocus system that is, to be charitable, long in the tooth.
The 1080p is a very nice, headline grabbing, "wow" feature guaranteed to generate a buzz at Photokina and make the covers of all the mags. Meanwhile, every 5D MkII owner will be suffering the burden of an autofocus system that was marginal when it first appeared, much less today.
But, I buy DSLRs to take stills, not video. I have an HD camcorder for that. An HD camcorder with a better built-in mic and a system specific shotgun mic for real sound. If you want some 1080p video that you will need to loop, dub or foley anyway, then the 5D is relevent. If you want 1080p with real sound, then you are going to be grafting an accessory mic system onto the 5D chassis. If you use wireless lavs, dedicated boom mics and a field mixer as a matter of course, then the 5D is relevent. But, if you are carrying genuine video sound gear, why would you be shooting video with a 5D?
It is just one man's opinion, but as a shooter, I would have traded the year delay (my guess), loss of chassis component space and investment they spent on the 1080p for a market-leading, or at least market-current, AF system.
The environmental sealing is welcome. The resolution is great. IMO, to a shooter, be it stills or video, the 1080p is largely an irrelevent marketing gimick.

In addition, the shutter life will be a real-life limiting factor for working pros. OK for casual use, but at our typical rate while traveling, we'd wear one out in a year or less.
And, we are not working pros.
