I went up to the Cape in October 2010 and it was great. Not many people. But driving a big Unimog camper I didn't do the Telegraph Track. Pretty warm.

Ordered max trax last night and they arrived today. Less than 24hrs! Hoping now that I bought them, they won't ever get used. Last trip around oz, I prepared taking two spares and not a single puncture. Bought all the safety gear for my bike and no accidents.
yes ben but you know what they say about just one goat
better to be safe than sorry
anyway youll probably get to use it dragging 4wd's out of the ********
BTW are you doing the tele track or going to wus it up the development road
NICE a holiday without the wife, it doesn't get any better than thatWife's work schedule limits us to 2 weeks as a family, so aiming to drive up with the little one, pick up wife from airport up north, spend 2 weeks doing cape trib, daintree, cooktown, drop her back to airport and take it easy driving back. I've always wanted to do this trip. As a landscaper, I'm keen to see some inspiring plants and might check out some tropical gardens.
Hoping we can have the camper ready in time, and give it a proper test.
Aim to do cape York next year with further mods and more time.
How painful was that process?Lucky I had the gvm upgraded.
How painful was that process?
I have heard that it is actually more difficult to derate a truck than it is to increase the GVM, which seems quite strange to me.
We head off next week. First real off road test in the canter. Can't wait. Lucky I had the gvm upgraded. I think we've got half the house packed!
Yep, that was the impression that I got when I was asking about the requirements for derating my truck.Geez. It was ridiculous for anyone who uses common sense. But quite normal if you work for the government.
it's in the next class of registration, my local tip won't accept me, technically parking it is now restricted,
It's amazing that no modifications are needed to change the gvm.
on the upside ben
your now a commercial vehicle so can park in loading zones
WRT whats required to upsize or down size in QLD its drilling two holes and filling them with rivets to hold the blue plate
that's what I love about QLD rego so long as you pay the fee the process is almost non existant
enjoy your trip - lots of photos
the rest of us will be back working
Hey good luck we have you guys have fun and safe trip.
And if you got time a bit of a trip report
