What is the weight of an empty box and what is the payload (door sticker) of your Tundra?

Making it look good will be tough. Those small cargo trailers are typically built like crap as well.
I think the empty box would probably weigh less than the bed that had been removed.
Agreed. But I think it would be an interesting challenge, and far far cheaper than most of the alternatives.

I think using a trailer is just going to create more work than it's worth. It would be easier to build a box from scratch. You're going to have to do a lot of modification to get the wheel well to line up.

I am just removing my bed and make a flatbed that mounts directly to the factory mounts then mounting home built box to the bed
