Where have you mounted your CB and/or HAM radios in your Disco I, II, and RRC's? I'm playing around with a few ideas, but a central thread for some proven solutions will be helpful now and in the future.

My skinny little Cobra CB has been in the pocket above the sun visor since 1994.

You need to loosen some of the mounting screws to get it past the lip, but if you get a small enough radio it will fit there securely.

Love to see some pictures of this, What model is the cobra? I have always thought this would be a great out of the way place for one but have never seen one small enough.

Stuck my CB right on the back of the center cubby box in my classic. Out of the way and accessible. Just leave a space between the plactic for the sound to escape from the speaker.

I didnt take any pictures but the little tweeter in the pillar has a resistance of 8ohms so I rewired it as an external speaker for my Yaesu 8900r that replaced my broken cd changer. I mounted the face plate for the radio under the AC controls. If your looking for a 4ohm speaker (CB) the small one in the door would be the one to use. Just cut into the wires under the dash. I wouldn't waste the time to install a hard mount CB myself. A handheld with a magnet mount antenna is what I'd use if I had to have a cb. Now if you wanted one for the PA feature that's always fun to use ;)

Can do pics Monday

I used a chinamart universal gps mount to the front of the ashtray to hold the remote head / face plate of my yaesu 8800R. I fabbed a c shaped bracket to hold the u joint style arm this is screwed to the ashtray face.

The radio is under the rear area of the passenger seat behind the CD changer.

I've got a remote speaker and it's bracket simply slid over the top of the interior B pillar trim

finally, pix!

Im generally opposed to drilling holes most things, but an ashtray is easily replaceable and low cost

VHF is in overhead console, as others described, with mic tucked into those map storage pockets.

Cobra 75 WSXT is mounted under passenger seat with handset hanging on a hook on the center console adjacent to the gear shifter area. (no pic of that, can take one if desired)

I love the Lev-o-gauge mount. The only thing more useless than a Lev-o-gauge is one mounted on a sloping surface.

Valid point, but since I've had it since 2002 I figured it might as well move from truck to truck for the hell of it.
