CDN M101/M416 wheel sizing questions

Okay, just got a new M101CDN, and I've got a few questions about axle/wheel setup.

My goal is to get the same Nissan wheels on it that I have on my truck. I know the bolt sizing is 6x4.5. So is there just a wheel adapter I can find somewhere, or am I going to have to replace the axle?

I've seen a lot of people on here with these trailers who have outfitted their trailers with the same wheels as their tow-rig. How exactly did you go about accomplishing that?:arabia:

Normally, I would say it's very simple to do, and not that expensive. The M101 axle is a standard 3500lb axle with 10" brake drum/hubs and you go to a trailer supply and buy replacement hubs with the correct bolt pattern. Problem might be the Nissan bolt pattern. I could not find 6x4.5 pattern (6x5.5 and 5x4.5, but no 6x4.5). Did not look very long, but you get the idea, we change the hub/drum. There are places where you could get an adaptrer made I'm sure, if you can't locate replacement hubs (I just don't know of anyplace).

Im pretty sure the Nissan bolt pattern is 6 on 5.5.

There are guys running Nissan wheels on their Colorados.

I think the new Nissans changed from 6 on 5.5, they could well be 6 on 4.5

If so there is no hub to replace it with you will need an adapter.

It's the bane of having such a great rig.

That blows!!

And here I thought I was having a rough time finding someone that stocks 3500# 6 on 5.5 idler hubs. Good luck.

I think at this point, it will end up being a lot cheaper to just get a spare stock tire/wheel from someone else who's doing a switch on their trailer.

Nobody wants to touch my mod for less than about $300.

Try checking out the Yahoo groups CDN2 M101 page. I am sure there is somebody on there with an extra tire and rim. If you check out my photo album under Feileod I used a toyota tire winch to mount my spare underneath the trailer. There is another photo album labeled spare tire mounts with some other helpful ideas.

Actually, I am planning on taking the spare under-bed mount off my Frontier and putting it underneath the trailer.

I'm getting a tire-carrier bumper for the truck here soon, so I can free up the space underneath for cool things like an Air Compressor and *hopefully* a secondary-fuel tank, so the chain/winch for the spare tire will go to the trailer.

And I would like to also add a spare tire mount (and spare) to the center rear part of my M101.

So I'm in the market for a set of take-offs from a M101 CDN. :victory:

I have heard of blank hubs. But never found them.

I know more than one person who has welded up a front hub on a vehical axle then just re-drilled the desired lug pattern.
Why couldnt this be done on a trailer axle?
