Chainsaw mount

I remember my cousin in Minn. would always carry a chain saw, because you never knew when a big storm would blow down trees across the trails.

Would a plastic chain saw case work?

Can't see why not. I wasn't even envisioning an entire case, just something like glorified strapdown w/ locking capability.

But I actually DO like that case, even if it's a bit bulky looking. Could keep the extra bits in there it looks like.

But if that's the only option, I could as easily just bolt down my Stihl case I have now and use a padlock on it.

This will eventually earn an understated, but quick-access spot on my offroad Trailer I'm building.

I dont have photos. But at a recent meet with jonfund.com at the Coolride 08 Rausch Creek PA event I noticed a really nice setup. On a swing out tire gate was welded a 2" female receiver pointed straight up. Then an ATV style chainsaw clamp was welded to a male piece that allowed it to slide into the receiver with the chainsaw then being mounted vertically chain down. and a hitch pin was used to connect the two so its totally removable..

On our fire engines we use two J hooks to fit the front bar. Then a spring loaded quarter turn latch on either side of the handle. A quarter inch diameter stud fits a hole in the handle to locate it.This holds it securely to a aluminum diamond plate cover over the preconnects.

I could see drilling a hole in the handle , then using a threaded stud to locate it and a wing nut to hold it down. Use the two J hooks on the forward handle as in the other example. That should be less than $5 worth of hardware.

+1 on the case.
I used to use the blade clamp type set-up on my ATV (so not directly related to 4 wheel vehicles) but found that when I was in deep enough ******** that I needed the chainsaw, it was getting banged and tangled in that mount. Now I use the case on my rack, so it is better protected, and much easier (safer) to transport when not in use. You should be able to find smaller cases made to fit your model and you local gardern/logging/outdoor store.
