Changing the Brakes: First time Jitters...

Why? Everybody has their first brake job at some point, we all have to get through it. I was nervous my first time, but it was fine. With some research, patience and a little skill, it's not a big deal.

And as posted, the OP did the job, and it worked out fine.

I will be changing the brakes on Thursday as well as bleeding them.

Dude, you need a book. They're like $15 at any auto parts store, or you might be able to look at one in a library for free. I've done a lot of brake jobs on about 8 cars, and they're all a little different. None are that difficult, but there are little things to know. For example, I've never opened a bleeder screw before compressing the piston, but I might from now on.

RTFM!

I do not think the OP should be performing this work.

Really...why? It worked the brakes are working normally...better than before in fact.

Why pay someone to do it when millions of people do it themselves every year?

Dude, No need to buy a book....google has a wealth if information as well as hundreds of tutorial videos (even found one for my specific car). In about an hour I learned all I needed to know about changing and bleeding brakes for my specific rig. Easy stuff.

I even found the manual online but after I watched the vids and already completed the brake job.

I don't think anybody who does what we do with our trucks should ever be discouraged from learning how to fix them ourselves.

Glad to hear it- I didn't mean to come off insulting, but from your first post you sounded a little clueless and not very confident, but I'm glad that I just read that wrong. You probably saved at least a coupla hundred bucks, now you get to buy something fun. (Those are the rules, the more you save, the more you get to spend!)
