Cheaper Scepter Military Style Cans

Are you talking about the red tank in your pic? If so, that isn't the one in the OP's post! That red one may be a Scepter, but it's not the non-CARB version that the OP is talkiing about. My non-CARB one has a screw on vent with a screw on nozzle. The latter has a child proof thing that makes it so hard to unscrew and unloosen that I removed it completely.

The can in my pic is a safety cap version of the Scepter cans, it has both a screw on reversible nozzle (shown out in my picture as the tank was now empty) and a screw on vent. (that was leaking as I mentioned). Given that the nozzle wasn't our problem rather the vent I'm not sure what conclusions your coming to. In addition to that Scepter can I have checked out the exact Scepters's pictured, again, I feel my comments stand.

Do any of you Back Country Explores have experience with these cans. If not I will test them out for y'all.

I have a couple of the consumer grade Scepter's as well as a bunch of the Military cans (MFCs).
I prefer the MFC's due to the spout. You can empty 20 Liters of fuel very quickly.
I seem to spill a lot more with the consumer version.

As you probably know, many fuel can companies make two versions, a CARB and non-CARB version. For the CARB version, many use a self-venting nozzle and therefore do not include a separate vent. The Scepter in your picture does not appear (at least in the pic), to have a separate vent. My Scepter has a separate vent that has a bright yellow, screw on cover, just like OP's pic.

I was thinking that perhaps you had the CARB version and that accounts for our different experiences with the product.

Where did you find the orange Scepters? Also - try removing the 'lead free' baffle/barrier in the filler neck and using Scepters other fill spout. Makes it a LOT faster.

For commercial cans, I built my own filler spout using a 1.25" dia flexible plumbing downspout fitted into a stock spare cap.
