Chevy Colorado or GMC Canyon Setups

That's the way of the Internet!

I do agree with you on almost everything, the factory multimatic shocks are great for faster forest roads, and street driving, but a set of rancho shocks would likely do the same. It's not until the whoops that you start seeing heat related failure as the oil heats up. While I have only heard/seen about them on 2019 and older shocks, it's still going to be an issue with such a small reservoir of fluid.

The real issues come with seal failure. Take mine for example, 25k on the odometer and I already have a shock in the rear that doesn't rebound. Who knows how long it's been that way. A friend (2018 ZR2) was able to compress his shock up and down with two fingers after the same amount of miles. There's a plethora of failures on the IG but who knows what their driving situations are like. Most of them are the rear shocks leaking fluid.

It's just my opinion, but I would be ready to replace the shocks after 30k-50k. At $1500/ea last I checked, it makes more sense to go King/Radflo/etc. as long as you're willing to take time and tune them yourself. The unfortunate truth is that there's no shock out there that is perfect for every situation all the time.

The DSSV are very easy to depress because they use a very low gas pressure, 30-40 psi vs 100+ psi on Kings.
The DSSV's are $500 each, not $1500. The $1500 is a dealer/warranty price.

Kings need regular rebuilds and in the long run can cost the same as replacing DSSV's every 50K.

I've only driven one truck with Kings, I felt it was very stiff, I'm sure tuning could correct that.

Question for those of you Gen 2 owners with toppers that extend over the cab (i.e GFC) or roof racks- What are you doing about the radio antenna?

You could simply unscrew it. You can also get a 2" replacement one:

I dont have many good pics, Its my daily driver/rig when I dont need the full size and camper.

2019, It will get AEV highmarks, snorkel, tune, 33's, and regear.( if she needs it) Build a hybrid bumper like my full size. Ill do the tires and fenders when the OE tires need replaced. 34k miles now.

Right now, pretty basic. Put on the soft topper and love it, also have onboard air. Extreme Outback Compressor.

The 33's work nice with 4.10's. My truck is similar, softopper over Decked drawers, full Super Skidz, steel DS, outboard rear shocks, intake, Exh, portedTB and Trifecta make it run very nice.

The Mint 400 custom version of the wee Chevy truck, with its ‘adjustable’ short bed.

(with apologies to Timex…It takes a lickin but keeps on truckin!)

….even though the 2023 Chevy Colorado ZR2 experienced structural failure, it managed to finish the Mint 400 in first place.

The bed supports failed from the extra weight, no frame damage that many think.

If you carry at near GVW you can get weld in frame plates from Badlands. Covers the crumble zone, just installed a pair on my truck.

Haven't posted in a bit, so I thought I'd poke around and see what's new.

Here's some lame driveway pics of my truck:

19 ZR2 diesel 2.8L

-Used RSI smart cap (owner ZR2 traded on TRX)/ Front runner bars/ 36" Alamosa antenna (not pictured)
-QYT mini Ham programmed for LADD channels and GMRS
-CCE mild delete tune and trans tune (I'm from AB), Flo-pro turbo back/EGR block, seems to be a cleaner tune.
-ARB Summit with Warn VR winch 10S and Factor 55 shackle
-AEV Bison rear bumper with BD squadron amber sport
-BD LP6 amber on the ARB BD squadron pro on the cowl with Stedi DRL fogs run off a SPOD
-Eibach diesel leveling springs (3/4" after bumper and winch install)
-1st gen lift shackles set at 2" to compensate for the sacked out factory leaves.
-Viair compressor and tank above the spare where the DEF tank used to live
-provent catch can
-Black powder coated factory bison wheels/ Falken 265/70-17

Waiting in the garage:

-DT44 Turbo, need to decide whose tune I'll use.
-Old man emu HD leaves
-grp31 battery kit

I'm on my second set of DSSV at all four corners with a 3rd warranty replacement on passenger front.

I picked up the replacements at Rock Auto for about 550USD a corner, they're lifetime warranty. They're more econmical than 2.5 kings or the ADS I drool over, in my opinion they perform just fine for what I use the truck for. I had fox factory series on a ram 2500, they eventually dumped their guts at -20 like the DSSV did.

The second pic hanging off the bumper is of my other rolling project, we'll see how long it lasts before washboards claim it.

I see a lot of trucks on autotrader at the 50,000 mile mark and they are significantly les expensive than a comparable ranger. Are there issues that start happening as these trucks get miles under them?

The first couple years of the diesels had some engine and transmission issues (15/16). Otherwise not a ton of issues. Seems like ones that had the engines retuned tend to have more issues

Not my usual tow rig, and my small stock trailer. But the girl who needed help was pretty cute. So some tiny goats were moved. Did great, cruise set at 75.

More raked then I expected, but no issues.
