Civilizing an m1101

Thanks for the tip. I stripped one of the lugs on the roadside, and the others are questionable. I think I'll just replace all the lugs, brake shoes, and bearings at the same time.

yeah, the bed of the trailer is actually a few inches lower than my tundra's bed!
In the picture above, it almost looks like the trailer is a bit nose-up, but it's really pretty much level. I really like how it turned out.

I just bought a M1101 yesterday, gad I found this website. I also want to keep the braking system on my trailer, buy I want to switch to a 1997 Toyota land cruiser wheel with 33" or 35" tire. question is it possible to change just the hub to match my wheel?

Yep, should be a straight up swap. Complete 12x2 brake drum/hub in six lugs is pretty common.

Don't get your hopes up. You could have a hard time going to different hub patern due to the size of the bearings. Pleas post the parts of you get it to work though.

Inner bearing is the same, outer bearing has the same inner diameter as the mil bearing. And inner seal has the same 2.25 seal surface.

Would be interesting to see if that hub fits. If it does, why even mess with the backing plates?

If I recall correctly, the issues is the width between the two bearings. Just time and $80 could answer

I dumped the hydraulic brakes when I went with a standard hitch. Pintle is not something that works with what I have. I run electric brake controllers in all my trucks, so once I get the backers done with parking brakes and my hubs to six lug to match my suburban all I have left is a spare tire mount left to do.
Unfortunately I have so many projects going at once that few progress quickly. The trailer for now is usable and my money is rolling into other upgrades for the home. I'll get back to it sometime, but gotta keep momma happy.

The spindles are a #42, which is used for both the 5200 axles and the 7000 axles. Only difference other than the lugs are the outer bearings, which simply correspond to the rating on the axle.
So the hubs I posted are an easy swap to get you to six lug axles on the M1101/1102 trailers. Looks like I need some extra cash soon to order mine and a set of rims. (New rims for the suburban and put the old rims on the trailer)
