CL Revcon in Alaska

They have had it parked all over for sale. I meant to take some pics and post it up here. It's so big and long that I just could not see it on any sort of trail or really anywhere you would need/want 4 wheel drive other than general snow and ice conditions. Still it's a very cool looking rig.

Nah, I disagree. You could easily do white rim trail; many other "roads" around the world could stand to have 4x4.

I have seen this for sale for a while. I REALLY wish he would include more photos of this thing. I would be interested, but I wonder if I could not do better for that price.

There was a guy with one here in Utah for a while, much better price, not sure what happend with that one though.

I also can not tell if this is one of the Diesel or petrol versions. I understand that the reputation on the Diesel is far superior when compared to that of the petrol.

It says that it has a ford 460, but I Have no idea what that means to my question.

Thanks. I understand that the diesel is much better on fuel economy.

That is ok, still very interesting.

I imagine the 460 in the rig gets you somewhere between 5-7 MPG....I bet a 7.3 PSD in the same rig would get you around 10 MPG....

In neither case is there much "economy" involved. :)

You know the Tag Axle really is not briliant for off road purposes like I would consider here in Utah, but if you were in on the beach, or the desert it might go over just fine.

They originally were asking in the $150,000.oo range for these things, so considering the inflation they were actually more than the earthroamers. I understand that they were built using the same specs as the air streem coaches, so I should think they should be fairly stout. The thing is that they were, like ER, a very very nitch market so you just do not see them very often. I have no idea how strong they are, but I would speculate that they should be fairly nice.

The diesel swap would likely be a nice change. A lot more power when going over the mountain passes and such, and as I spend a lot of time in Colorado... yet again one more reason to be interested in the diesel.

Who knows how long I am going to have to search before I find that perfect rig though... sigh... ;)

I just wish I had the cash to plunk down on a nice unicat! That would make life simple for me... haha.

My god this thing has got to be the very definition of land yacht. As anyone that has spent any legitimate time driving that vintage of Ford knows, the turning radius is atrocious. Turn it into a 30 foot motor home and I can't imagine how bad it would be. Almost undrivable? Okay, that's exaggerating. But it can't get much worse or it would be. Don't get me wrong, I think it's a great rig.

Did a little research out of curiosity, they made them with the diesels and they are out there for sale. And the construction is very stout. But set the sails for turning.

Really? WHERE! I have not seen one yet for sale, I just can not find them. Would you mind posting the links to the ones you found? Cheers

...a large turning radius is going to be a hard thing to get around. lol

HAHA:wings: That was great! PUN intended I hope, because it was pretty punny!

Cheers

Run Revcon through google images. Click on the photos. Interestingly, the ones I saw were all priced about the same. Would be good to have someone drive one and see how the turning radius is, I'm just assuming it's bad.

I think if that rear tag can steer it would not be too bad. If it is just putting pressure to go forward then that would certainly reduce. Still if you think about the massive trucks people are running around the world these days, this thing is not bad at all and would be a LOT less for what you get than, say, a Unicat interior sized vehicle.

I don't know, I am big on having an open concept in the camper. I still think I would like to maybe just build my own. I found a moving van based on a for f650 four door, and boy that sure appeals to me.
