Not mine but I thought it was kind of neat design.
This camper is a custom built popup camper that I designed and built in 2009. It is a non-cabover hardside popup design that is somewhat similar to an A-liner travel trailer. It is only 5'6" wide, so it doesn't hang out on either side of the vehicle by more than 2 inches. The roof is angled in the front for aerodynamics, but still doesn't rise more than 10 inches above the cab (when down). This design is lightweight (around 500-600 lbs) and off-road capable.
It was designed to fit perfectly into the back of a toyota tacoma, but I think it would fit in any small pickup. It is very strong and is waterproof due to the aluminum exterior. The frame was built out of 2X2 (newer campers are built with no more than 1X2") and plywood. It is very well insulated, which is unachievable in canvas popup truck campers. The roof hinges up, and three other walls (with a big window on one) also swing up and lock into place. It is hard to imagine, but it really works. The only thing about the camper is that the exterior paint job was not completed. This can be done easily, it's just time consuming.
The interior of this camper is not comparable to any other camper. It is all beautiful wood interior that is stained and sealed. there is a couch on one side of the interior that folds into a twin sized bed. on the other side there is a space for a cooler to be strapped in, cabinets for storage, and a 3 burner cooktop. The interior height is roughly 6'4" at the peak of the roof, and the window lets you enjoy the views that colorado has to offer. Electric has been run throughout the camper, but the lighting fixtures and the battery have not been installed. The ceiling is not painted yet but just needs a little paint job.
The last photo was taken during the building process and is not a current photo.
priced at 2000 obo.
