Cleaning Kinetic Rope

Bwahahaha you guys wash your rope (lines??).:sombrero:

Double Braid like the Samson Rope that MasterPull uses for their "Kinetic" recovery gear does tend to pick up some funk if it's put away wet. I usually lay it out in the garage after it's been used in wet or dirty locales.

Dyneema (UHMWP) ropes can even harbor moss/funk/rot growth as well.

Yes, Costman is right.. Look up Samson Rope's website. Learn how to splice Amsteel and Stable Braid. You'll save thousands.

Eventhough

Thousands? That is a bit much.

12 strand (Amsteel Blue, etc) doesn't absorb water. You have to work hard to make it mold.

Winch line isn't impossible to splice. Double braid isn't either, but double braid is significantly harder. I teach many every year how to splice both at wheeling events the shop sponsors. Most say with winch line "that isn't too bad" and with double braid "forget that."

I guess thousands was meant to be applied collectively.. My bad.

Maybe it's just a salt water thing, but I've actually got algae/green funk on a few of the Amsteel straps that are on our fishing gear, and have seen it before on line that's been stored on a winch without being used for quite a while.

Agreed. Samson Double Braid is quite a pain in the butt to splice.. Try Dynex DUX, 12 strand Dyneema with Double Braid Cover and solid control core. Not. Fun.
