Cleb's FJ80 Build

So I was a poor unfortunate soul who was driving around in a Land Rover Freelander when the offroading bug hit me. Well, it didn't take long to realize that a Freelander just wasn't going to cut it. So I did what anyone else would have done and sold the thing. I am now the proud owner of a 1991 FJ80. It has 190k on the clock, 2.5" OME Heavy Lift, 33" BFG AT's. I am about to start fabrication on a new front bumper and sliders. I will be posting pics of those as they come along.

There are way to many mods I want to be able to list them here. This will be a pretty slow build cause the boss has me on a tight budget but you never know what I might come up with :ylsmoke:

The first pic is the rig with some 31" rollers. Got the 33's put on today. The rims were some 15" white wagon rims that I rattle canned black. I just love black rims on a white Cruiser :)

Welcome to dogged reliability, and slow acceleration.

Make yourself very well aquainted with the 80 Series section on www.ih8mud.com and with Cruiser Dan.

If you don't know your history on the vehicle, start with a general check of everything and a "baseline".

Check this page here for some good FJ80 info:
http://gclcny.com/jh/

Plugs, wires, rotor, cap, air filter, oil filter, fuel filter, fuel sock, PCV valve and O2 sensors are a good start, followed by all the rest of your fluids, a front axle service and a valve adjustment.

And whatever you do, DO NOT UNSCREW THE PLUG FROM THE AFM. :)

Welcome to the toyota Fold. We may not have fast trucks but our trucks make it back home trip after trip after trip. THe 80 may well be one of THE best Expo platform ever offered in the US. Nice truck mate, can't wait to see the bumper.

Cheers

I'm glad to see you in the 80. Too bad we aren't working together anymore so we could start the overland section of the parking lot.

Please keep us posted on all the progress.

Ok, so I was finally able to get my front bumper fabricated. Life just seems to constantly get in the way when you have something you want to do. But thanks to a friend that is good with metal and had some free time, I got'r done.

You can check out my blog (http://cruisincouple.wordpress.com/) to see more pics but here are a few for quick enjoyment.

Got some work done this weekend on my storage/sleep system. Here are a few pics after I was done with the wood work. I still need to carpet it to match the interior but that will come a little later. And as always, more pics on my blog (http://cruisincouple.wordpress.com)
