CoastalDefender's build thread

No more armor right now. Money and work have been a little rough, can't justify it.

Didn't see the Trail-Gear.com stuff until now, and considering the amount of extra work for those, I will still probably go with Shrock. Bolt-on is too appealing to me. :)

CoastalDefender, Do have a picture of where you mounted the camera?

License plate bolts.

But it appears the camera doesn't fare well against the elements when things got down to 9deg here this winter. I'm going to need a new one I think, the housing's integrity was compromised, and now I have condensation problems.

However, I think I am going to reposition the mounting regardless, to the back of my AT Can Holder. Better view, etc. Just wish I had an alternative to maintain my view of the rear hitch. Too useful there. :)

Nope. Wired all up. Though I trust Wired more than Wireless, it's a real PITA to get it done all up. Long lengths of wire running along the frame rails up to the front end is a laborous endeavour.

Guess what these are?

24JUN09 Order - 16DEC09 Delivery

About 18 months ago, I ordered a Shrock rear bumper with tire carrier and rear differential armor plate for my 05 Xterra. Took about 10 days from order placement to delivery for both items. Very impressive quality and workmanship.

Limb Riser rough draft...

I think it raise it the necessary 6" on top when my Yakima basket shows. This will get a few tweaks before I'm finished...

overkill? why not tap and die the lower hoop and the roof rack pipes....thread in an eye.....use a screen door spring shock so you can stretch the cable on. Much less hardware. those u clamps always look crappy to me!:coffeedrink:

Not a bad idea at all. Maybe I'll wait until the basket comes in and see if the angle isn't better for tapping the top of the basket.

I have to be very careful drilling holes in steel living 150yds off the ocean.
