New Mod!!!

Rear Diff breather extension

Took 7ft of 3/16" fuel line, two hose clamps, a rear diff breather (straight-shot), and an "air stone" (aquarium stores).

The stock "one-way" breather creates a negative pressure in the rear axle and is dangerous in water-crossings. It also gets clogged easily. This is epidemic in both the C200 and M226 axles, as the one-way breather is the same on both.

So I got a straight-shot "breather" from Olympia Nissan, the fuel line from an auto-parts store, and the air-stone for the end of it from a local aquarium store ($.99/2).

Breather- $2.35
7ft 3/16" fuel line- $1.15/ft
Hose Clamps- $.55/ea
AirStone- $.50
Total- $12

However, I did it to both my wife's X w/ an M226 axle, and my Fronty w/ the C200 axle, so the actual cost was like $25. Install was painless and simple on both.

Size 14 metric to take off the original, size 12 metric for the replacement breather. Zip tie enough slack to the fuel line, run the top end up to the rear passenger tail light, stick the airstone on it, and clamp it down. Ta da! Easy as pie.

I could have taken more pics, but did only the one. You can see a lot more pics in this thread- http://thenewx.org/forum/showthread.php?t=54

Breather installed, fuel line, hose clamp.

Have you looked into extending the evap canister vent control valve breather tube and installing the inline filter as well or do the X's come with those?

the X's/Fronty's don't come with the filter...if a code is thrown, and you're under warranty, there's a TSB for it...to add the filter

Thanks Creek, I noticed on your first picture that it looks like your X came with steel wheels or are those wheel covers? If straight steel what type of hub center covers were on the wheels...have you still got them?

that was a 2nd set of rims I had for street tires...long gone by now. My X came with and still has 5-spoke alum. rims.

As I recall the filter addon TSB doesn't cover underwater activities, might want to put that evap sucker filter higher than bar height. :)

The Evap canister is part of your fuel system, that black box at the far side of the photo, look under your left rear side of the truck.

The hose at the front of the photo is the 'Evap canister vent hose'.

From various complaints from owners over the last couple of years Nissan has issued a TSB and fix for the fact that the evap hose gets plugged when driving on dusty and muddy roads by requesting a retrofit of an 'evap system filter'. The evap hose is in constant suction though so if you park in a river your evap box will suck in muddy water and you get to spend anywhere from $400 to $1000 wether you have a filter or not.

Nissan didn't tell anyone to reposition the evap hose end above the water line so that dealerships can keep selling you bits and pieces...none of which are covered under any warantees.

Have a read through this thread for some headsup about the filter retrofit;

2008 Pathfinders at least have the filter installed as OEM equipment but the hose still sits below most offroading river waterlines, move the hose and save your evap system.

Cuidado con Nissan. ;)

And rearview cam piped into my AVIC-D3. (Apologies to the quality of the pics, but the rearview cam needs to be seen in person to be appreciated. UNBELIEVABLE!!! I suggest everyone go out and get one yesterday. :)

Monday I got my tires re-balanced.

Tuesday I changed the fluid in my Front and Rear Diffs, T-case, and the engine oil-
-T-case ATF was a little dark and "burnt" smelling.
-Rear Diff was black and smelled the same as the new stuff. Magnet was nice and gunky.
-Front diff oil came out looking good as new, but decent collection of gunk on the magnet.
-Engine oil looked better than it has been (I've been doing a 3k rotation w/ Mobil 1 on it recently, to attempt to clean it out real good). However, I noticed an oil leak. Looks like the Valve Cover gasket (again). This time I'll have to pay though. :(

And Today (Wed) I had an alignment done on the truck. :)

Truck drives much better than it had, and I got the camber problem taken care of. :punk03:

How do have the camera wired?

Oh, and a lovely part about working in the Transportation Industry is that I can pull my pickup over our Pit and use company tools on off-hours to wrench on my rig. :)

KMA bumper shipped today. :)

It should get here within the next 3 weeks, hopefully I can find the time to get it on before Christmas. :sombrero:

KMA Bumper on. I won't waste time w/ pics, it's the same as Articulate's.

Though my fuel can is a green mil scepter, and my tire on the gate is the steelie with General Grabber on it (for now).

My plans are to buy another wheel and mount the same tire as i'm running on it for the back. Stick the steelie/Grabber on the bottom again.

And it appears I need a big Hi-Lift to mount on the hi-lift mount. I have hte smaller one, and it's not long enough. :(

Articulate-
The gate-stop is in the same location :(
The mounts have been moved properly. |_.._|, instead of _|..|_

My mods planned for the bumper are to add a rear light and an AT Fuel Can holder where the stock one is. For lockability, and to protect against siphoning.
