Colorado ZR2 and Tacoma TRD Pro compared

There's more to innovation than just tech/gizmo's, though. Main reasons I chose the F150 over the Tundra is some of the bold, risky, but forward thinking moves they've made. Aluminum body, gas efficient V6 turbo (or very inefficient :D), improved payload, etc. Yes, the interior layout seemed better as well, but Tundra's looks good, too--this wasn't a deciding factor. In fact, I'd have gone with an XL, had it not been for the wife and kids "needing" some of the nicer amenities.

F150 is a super nice truck, actually they all are.

I am an odd duck....I know, beginning to loath all vehicles in general....maybe because I have a commute now, find them all annoying, no matter the brand. The new ones are all very nice, yet ....dunno...don't like anything. Used to be a real gear head...as I age it is fading.

Whether Toyota is just too cocky, or just unwilling/disinterested in giving us something new (in their trucks), I'm not interested. Even the Tacoma. Nice truck. But most other full-size trucks get better MPG, more payload, etc.

They always have been a conservative company...that said do believe they are resting on their laurels with their trucks. Cars keep on advancing...their trucks are a bit stale.

What's this mean? Keep that crusty ol' truck. :D

Yep!

Nice bike, by the way. I'm still looking for a TW200 to romp around in. So many moto trails around me, it'd be nice to have one for my off-days from cycling.

Thanks! It has been great...I have had a enough of these things over the years, they are all pretty much the same no matter the brand. (kinda like trucks, just do things a little different)

Get that TW, those things are a hoot! Love riding, getting out there away from it all exploring new and forgotten things is what it is all about. Funny how most of us get all worked up over the "means" getting there. ;)

for what it's worth, I've got a '16 Canyon diesel, and get 27mpg routinely driving on twisty backroads. On the open road at 65-70, it's more like 31-32.

Why don't they drop that same diesel motor into a Silverado? Seems like it would be more useful in a full size truck.

test drove a brand new 4 dr diesel

And I got an average of 25 mpg just around town for 5 or 6 miles.. Very niceLook down and see over 500mile range on a full tank

It's also been delayed per recent news. I bet no diesel option given the recent 3rd party law firm going after Eco diesels.

Why do you say that? The jeep will have less payload and towing capacity more than likely, it will also have Jeep quality which has improved, but is not on par with Toyota or GM.

It'll be the same/similar reason people choose a 4Runner over a Wrangler. But I'm sure they'll sell well. I'm sure it'll be nice to have some sort of cargo capacity in a Wrangler.

Comparing the JT and the ZR2, is like comparing the Power Wagon and the Raptor, apples and oranges, Zucchini bread and Fruitcake, Rosanne Barr and Will Ferrell...
Well OK, Rosie, Will and Fruitcake are pretty much the same, but hopefully you get the point.

Yeah, seriously. If the allegations against FCA's v6 ecodiesel are true (so far FCA is still denying everything, which is unusual given how they've had to halt sales) and FCA was planning on using said ecodiesel in the new jeep (which was heard on the grapevine), then those plans could be in serious jeopardy. My opinion, get a contract with Cummins to sell their 2.8l inline 4, throw some basic emissions on it (the 2.8 already has EGR built into it) and make them an option for the jeep....an american diesel (well atleast american designed, even if it is made in China) in an iconic american vehicle...those things would sell like hotcakes.

The European engine makers have just lost too much credibility. As much as I like the concept of a diesel in a Ram 1500 and, potentially, in a jeep, I just haven't warmed up to relying on an Italian-designed and made (VM Motori) diesel engine...a Japanese engine, sure, but the Italians aren't known for reliability and the German car companies, well they like to pretend the rules don't apply to them. Though to be fair, the new 2.8l duramax in the GM Colorado/Canyon was also designed by VM Motori....I guess we'll see how it fares for the longterm.
