Columbia Overland 01-04 dual battery tray

This is Columbia Overland's dual battery kit for a 01-04 installed on my 04 taco. They had problems with customers arching the positive terminals on the top plate of the tray (used to be bare).

This is what they came up with to rectify the problem.

No more arching. Problem solved.

No, it has to be moved over about 4-6" or the overflow bottle cannot fit in its relocated spot.

Well I can't complain about there products. I know they have been working on the arching issue for a while with spacers underneath the terminals on the batteries. That fell through and the coating on the tray top was there solution for the fix. I think imho it is a great solution to it.

Would just doubling-up or putting sleeves around the leads where they pass near the top plate work? I'm installing the Columbia Overland dual battery tray this weekend for a long Baja trip in a few weeks. Now I'm concerned . . .

Was this issue not addressed with the bottle relocation bracket that we have been producing the kit with? We have no record of any customer complaints from this kit regarding the vacuum line and we have installed them successfully in our own shop without issue. All critiques are welcome, but we have to hear them in order to make our products better.

IMO they're falling down on the job... The tray has been around for about a year. No excuse for not at least putting disclaimers out there.

We have the plastic coated tray tops in stock and are swapping them out to customers with the non-coated tops at no charge, shipping paid both ways. Please contact sales@columbiaoverland.com if you would like yours exchanged.

I guess it didn't get passed to you directly... I'll send you an email.
