And there is more to ground clearance than what you measure with a ruler too. I doubt my F-150's is stellar but I know what it is... the rear differential which really means nothing for snow. Otherwise the body is tucked up high. My wife's car is like a turtle. Whatever the ground clearance is the whole bottom of the car is right there too.

Exactly. This further proves the point truck based SUV's (not cute-utes) will do very well in those type of situations.

so on Saturday I looked at Tacomas TRD's and a Gladiators back to back and I actually dozed off for a few minutes looking at the Tacomas it was nearly as boring as my wife's CRV. On the other hand the Gladiator image is stuck in my head still. It would have been an easy sale for them but no sales person would come out and wait on me and I was smart enough not to go inside and ask for help in my weakened state of mind.

I think if I were to choose a midsize truck right now, it may be the Gladiator. But they are pretty expensive.

Yeah, the price makes them a pretty tough pill to swallow...

Depending on what you want.

I would be happy with a Sport, they start in the mid 30's like most 4wd midsize trucks on the truckbuilder website. Dealer markup at the moment is killing them but that won't last forever.

I built a pretty nice to me Sport with the freedom roof for like $37k. STX/FX4 Ranger is like $36k. TRDOR Taco is right in there too.

Not so much here. No Sport in Canada. Cheapest is Sport S. I added a freedom top, auto and max tow......

54K. A Ranger XLT crew cab with the FX4 and tow package is about 41-42K. That's a big difference. Taco was about 42-44K I think?

I have seen Overland editions around $50K which is a lot. This particular Rubicon edition was close to $60K which is too much for me but man if money is not an issue...so worth it. :)

We've had my wife's ZR2 since May, and the more I drive the truck (when she lets me) the more I like it. Now, I wouldn't trade it for my Power Wagon, but for a mid size truck it really is a nice little truck. It's easy to zip around town in, and it get's north of 20mpg on the highway. The impressive thing for me is I'm 6'8" and I fit in the front seats really comfortably. I can't speak to the off road part of the truck as this thing will more than likely be a pavement princess, but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the truck to anybody.Driveway1.jpgDriveway2.jpg

Woah! That is nuts.
Yep. Cheapest one I can see is 53K. It's a Sport S with the auto, freedom top and tow package. So 10K more than a similarly equipped Ranger. Or the same as a nicely equipped F-150/ Ram 1500/ Silverado or Tundra. Don't get me wrong, I love the Gladiator it's just so damn expensive. Not that I'm in the market anyway......

Close friend has been waiting on the prices here in CA also. He wants to swap his Wrangler for the Gladiator. But isn’t playing the dealer markup price game either.
