Conqueror Compact Weight?

Thom:

I have had lots of folks that use the Compact without any problems with the lack of brakes, ... that said, and to err on the side of safety,
adding electric brakes is an inexpensive alternative and the price still stays WAY below an AT.

Just my thoughts.

Hope I don't sound like a Conqueror hater, it really is a great trailer...I own one afterall and really enjoy taking it out.

Oh no, you don't sound like a Conqueror hater, just gives the pros and cons as you see them.

Interior storage is an issue on the Chaser, but it can be fixed. I'm working on a solution which I'll post on the board if it works; otherwise, I'll disavow all knowledge of it.

On the unsecured water issue, I think that can be fixed relatively easy.

Here's a lightweight trailer:

Conquerors are a little heavy and a little hard to reach into. Jeeps and Landy's can hardly tow them.
Maybe he should ditch the Subie?

Ditch the Suby? Heathen.

Thanks to everyone for lots of very good information. I think we'll put the project on hold for a year and work on a more useful interior setup for the Forester.

I did notice that the Pulmore site has a pict of a bike rack, with a tandem on it. Hmm.

1650lbs Empty.

Just checked on it for you.

However, although the weight is reflective of the quality of build, ... the trailer is so perfectly balanced, that one person can maneuver is around quite easily.
Additionally, I can barely tell it is behind my truck!!

Hope that helps.

Dendy

been trying to research the weight more till I get to some scales ?

where did you get the weight from ? was this yours on the scales ?

From the Mega site Spec Sheet:

"Dry weight - 400 kilograms" Equal to 881.85 pounds

Add water - 29 gals X 8 lbs/gal = 232

Gas, propane, and beer = ~200

Not close to 1650 empty...unless your standard kit contains more beer than mine.

this was my conclusion as well?

I strongly suspect that Mega's site is generous in the dry weight. I bet it's the weight of the box sans axles and wheels, etc.

You could try the Layton landfill up by HAFB. Pretty sure you could use their scale.

XJBANKER - Did you ever get the "real" weight?

Not yet the weather has been bad and I havent wanted to take it out in the snow. I am guessing that the 400 kg is without the tent, gas cans, water tanks and everything else on it. If i were a betting man I would guess around 1200-1400 lbs.

I think that's still way too light. I'm building a trailer almost exactly the same size and it'll be pushing 1500 just for the bare bones. Now, they have used more engineered folded sheet metal and have better strength to weight. But I just can't believe it's 900lbs rolling dry weight. Just the axle, springs, brakes and 3 wheels is probably 400lbs.
