Cook set or Camp Table?

Well I went in to REI this evening (sans gift cards so I would not buy something on a whim) to take a look at some of the cook sets. I the GSI set looked and felt pretty nice. I may very well end up getting this with my gift cards.

On another note, they happened to have their Kingdom Table on sale for 40% off the online price and about 60% off the priced marked in their printed catalog in the store. I had one of the employees escort me out to the Jeep to see if this large of a table would fit into a long cubby hole that I built into the rear platform of the Jeep. It fit perfect length wise and left a good amount of usable space width wise (I had my shovel in there as well). Since they only had 3 of them in stock, I went ahead and picked on up. So much for not buying something on a whim in there!

Stoked! I was just perusing the website this evening and saw that deal. Lucky they had it in stock! Reviews suggest it might be a tad flimsy, please report back on your experience.

So I put it together today and I'm pretty happy with it. There were some bad reviews on being hard to put together and not coming with instructions... none are needed and I had it together the first time in less then 5 mins. It does have a little bit of wobble if you rock it on alone the length, but not to bad for a snap together table. The other direction is is very solid. It says it has a 120lbs weight limit, but it held me at 150lbs. That said, I would not go sitting on it all the time. It is a little low for cooking or preping on, but it is just about right for sitting under in a collapsible camp chair.

The one part of the table that I think is kind of lacking is the "leveling leg". One of the legs has about a 4" adjustment so that you can try and level the table... but only if one corner is low. It would have only add a few bucks to the price for them to have given it four legs that could have adjusted up to about 14 or so inches.

I'm going to keep this table for our up coming Death Valley trip at the end of March and I'll try and do a full review of it then.

Something of a quandary; but in my book cooking and eating come before supporting stuff;
That said I typically carry one (home assembled) cookset and up to 3 tables of various sizes;

The Kingdom table worked out really well on our trip, wishing I would have bought two of them actually. In fact, my dad who does not overland or really camp any longer said he would like to have one as well. I guess I'll be watching for another good sale on these.
