Geez! 3 months! That's not good... Maybe it was just a Summer fun rig? Or maybe it has something else wrong with it. They're looking to make a tidy sum reselling it though. Won on eBay for $3250 and now trying to sell for $6500! Still a neat little rig...

Those '79-'83 Hilux trucks are rust magnets. Even here in CO I rarely see one that's not heavily rusted, particularly under the doors and the fenders. Don't they use salt in MN? Yikes!

I wonder if the seller just slapped some Earl Scheib over the rust and tried to sell it, then the unlucky buyer discovered what he was in for.

The truck was originally auctioned from SoCal and so if it was originally from there, it should have little to no rust issues. I don't think it has been painted since as it looks weathered from the sun (again from SoCal).

Cool- I'd buy that if I was closer. Get it re-gelcoated and update the interior and it'd be pretty sweet. Oh well.

I thought all Chinooks popped up but it doesn't say that or show that anywhere....? I don't see any latches for a pop up roof either.

If it's only 4 feet high inside I think that would get annoying in about 11 seconds...

We don't use salt in CO, but I have never seen a 79-83 that didn't have "rust issues." Actually, that's also true of the 1st gen 4runners and the 84-88 trucks. They all have "rust issues." I think it has something to do with the quality of sheet metal they used back then.

If it's the same one that was on eBay (looks like it) then it does pop up. The CL ad is gone but if you follow the link above to the eBay ad you'll see a photo of up popped up.
