Coolest LC I have seen in US

I was in Moab over the weekend. On the way home we did a tour through S. Utah. While going up Moki Dugway our group came across this rig...We all got out of our trucks and swarmed it.
They guy is from Germany. He spent a pretty $.01 on the rig. It is a 79 LC Diesel with factory winch and snorkel. The suspension was done by OME. He spent $1200 getting the rig to the US and is on his second month of a year long stay. He plans on taking it to Costa Rica before putting it back on a boat to Germany. Two of the drivers with us are from Germany...small world.
Here is the manufacture of the camper.

Oh my! :Wow1:

That thing is sweet in any language! Nice photos. I would've swarmed the guy too!

I love that drive also. I went over it last month with MarkF'nStephens and his better half. We didn't get to see any rigs like that though.

That's the dream right there :smiley_drive:

That is super sweet. Reminds me of the Turtle truck, but with a platform I could really dig!

Camper is a little tall for my taste though. I'd rather see something lower, with a pop up, but that is so much cooler than just about anything we could ever get here, how could I complain? And I'll bet that's COMFY inside.

Excellent, detailed pictures by the way. Thanks for sharing!

Saw it heading west on I80 just east of Reno, NV last Friday around 8:30 am. I was going eastbound.

There is another vehicle very similar around here
A German couple who has driven across the US from East to West.
I saw them on the 303 up in Surprise AZ and chased them for 5 miles before they stopped to check their map.

Their rig is very similar, LC diesel pickup with a camper on the back.
These guys are headed to Baja and will then leave the truck and fly back to Germany for a few days and then return to the truck and spend a few months going to the tip of Baja...

I have pics, I'll post them when I get a chance

Sweet vehicles!!!!

A Mog (or similar vehicle) passed us right at the top of the Dugway in the fall of 2004, but didn't stop. I don't recall if they had much of a camping box on it or not.

It's almost a shame they have paved the corners on the Dugway. Makes it almost too easy :)
