crappy wedco water cans

Talk about poor quality and poor customer service. One year after using my cans I noticed the water was looking a little "colored" so I checked inside the wedco water cans and they are rusted out inside. Now I know the rust wont hurt you, people who have gavly pipes in their homes drink rusty water all the time along with anyone that has a well. I called to to see what could be done about the problem and here is what they asked me.... them+ are you storing the water in the can all the time ? me+ yes them+they are not meant to store water in continually. me+ their water storage cans are't they? what good are they if you cant store water in them. them+ their only meant to store water in for trips/outings sorry. I love their fuel cans but they have the worst water cans out there. I spent good money on two water cans and now they are in the trash can for recycled steel. That company is a joke, I could have spent 1/4 the cost and bought two cans at walmart even if they only lasted the same time I would be money ahead.Dont buy wedco water cans.... their fuel cans are good though.

Bummer I would be upset too. The military surplus plastic cans seem to hold up well.

Have and will continue to tout any Jerry can based design like the wedco's for fuel use.

I don't use their water cans however. I do like the Front Runner water container sold by Sierra Expeditions which includes an integrated spout and will fit where a Jerry can would normally go (http://www.sierraexpeditions.com/index.php?l=product_detail&p=2158).

Their new Pioneer cans look like a decent copy of the Front Runner design (http://www.sierraexpeditions.com/index.php?l=product_detail&p=4297) and are a few $ cheaper.

Best price per gallon water container is still the good ol' Aqua-Tainer...My local Wal-Mart has them for less than $10.

My Front Runner leaks. The lid does not seal. I know Sierra has an new brand that I will switch too soon.

I've got a plastic 6 gallon can (looks like a Jerry Can) from Walmart that was under $10, doesn't leak and has lasted 4 years now.

You can still get the Military Water Cans (i.e. same design spec as the Scepter branded units) for under $30/each here in the US, 100% legal through buylci.com and others. I can't express just how pleased I am with them, falls out of the truck, freezing temps, etc. No issues to speak of.

I have both Scepter diesel and water cans. I wouldn't use anything else.
