Cruise Moab 2009

Surprised noone has posted CM related pics here so I thought I'd share some of mine. Many of you have possibly seen some of these already over on IH8MUD, but since there are many here that don't venture over there here are a few photos from my weekend there. I ended up going somewhat at the last minute so I did not take my 80 series Land Cruiser. Instead I rode along with Ryan Davis in his well built FJ40. We began the event by leading the official Pritchett Canyon run until Ryan broke a rear pinion gear. That took us out of the run earlier than we would have liked. The rest of the weekend was spent riding along with Dave Helm in his excellent 40th Anniversary 80 Series Cruiser. We led Kane Creek Canyon with a large group. It was a good day and the bulk of the photos are from that trail. On the last day of the event we were scheduled to lead the Moab Rim trail, but due to rain we joined the group running Poison Spider Mesa. It rained quite a bit that day so I left my camera in the bag.

Anyway, here's a selection of photos....the first...."Where's Waldo?" photo courtesy of James Trinnaman. That's me getting a few shots on Kane Creek.

Ryan's last obstacle on Pritchett. This climb has become much more difficult in recent years.

attempting to repair the diff. We found a replacement pinion but the diameter of the threaded section was larger so our pinion nut did not fit.

Great pics. Way to capture it man. Sweet rigs for sure.

How do we get some of those shirts Paul??? And are those steps strapped to your spare? Too cool!

I was able to head to CM with my buddy Ryan...a.k.a. "Hayes" here on the portal. I had a great time, and Hayes even let me drive his rig on Metal Masher. It was great to engage in some good old fashioned four wheeling. It makes those more moderate obstacles one finds on back roads less intimidating. As we both have 80 series land cruisers, it was great practice.

A couple of shots I took:
