That's exactly how BAT works, like a live auction as long as people are bidding the auction keeps going. Why drop the gavel when folks are still going back and forth? So if the clock is under 2 mins when you bid, it resets to 2 mins and starts the countdown again.
The BAT crowd is pretty fussy. I expected the Mexican government seizure history and motor swap to hurt #9's chances there and it certainly looks like it did. It also takes a thick skin and a light touch on the seller's part to make the peanut gallery happy with your responses. I think this seller made a good effort, but with the history of this rig it was an uphill battle. He could have been a bit more thorough in his responses to detailed questions about the truck, and could have been a bit more gentle with those showing concern over the title history. Had he pulled that off, I think the bids could have gone higher.
With RV's in such demand and ER's offering a remote escape from your current daily realities, these rigs are a hot commodity and have only gone up in value. Had #9 not had it's interesting history and a stock but upgraded Ford motor, with all the updates done to it I think $175-200k would have been a slam dunk on BAT.
I wish the seller luck in finding the right buyer who appreciates the upgrades including the Cummins and is not put off by this truck's past. I mean, if you find the perfect partner and then discover what they did on spring break that one time in Mexico, would that end the relationship?
