Custom Jeeps for Easter Jeep Safari 2010

A few I took just before leaving sunday morning.
Wish I could have got more time to take pics but these guys were leaving and all I had was the phone cam.

Not a jeep, but what an expo rig this could be!

Jeep trailer:

Similar to the Livin' Lite, but with some mods at least.


Based on the location of the wheels and the fact that there's no split in the middle of the top, I think it could be the 6.0 model

I'm not sure why the soft cover is missing; though I see the snaps for it all around. The 6.0 could be great for 2 people with some upgrades.


I almost bought a livin' Lite a few years ago and wanted to do some similar mods to it, but the wife wasn't interested so it never materialized. Instead I got a Fleetwood and did the typical axle flip, which has worked just fine, but it's heavy.


I'm also a fan of thier truck bed camper.

Pickuptrucks.com has a very brief article describing three Mopar Underground vehicles now on display at the Easter Jeep Safari. The article talks about the Nukizer (a modified J8 military Jeep), the Ram Powerwagon (a Power Wagon with shortened frame, standard cab, short box, coil spring rear suspension and 40 inch tires), and the RAM Runner (RAM pickup with the prototype of a long travel suspension that will be available later this year through Mopar. The new suspension offers 15 inches of travel in front, 14 inches in the rear.)

Here's a brief description of the new Mopar Underground vehicles at Easter Jeep Safari this year

Mopar ImMortal: portal axles on a Wrangler Unlimited
Jeep General: Wrangler 2 door with 4.5 inch lift, AEV bumpers, half doors
Jeep Nukizer 715: J8 with lengthened chassis, 4 inch lift, custom grill and hood, custom fabric top
Wrangler Trail Boss: Standard Wrangler, Half doors, 3 inch lift, AEV bumpers
Wrangler J7: Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, utility interior, steel bumpers, 2 inch lift
Jeep Patriot Extreme: 2 inch lift, rock rails, off road lights
RAM Powerwagon Concept: 2500 Power Wagon, shortened, standard cab, lifted
RAM Runner: Ram 1500 crew cab with (very) long travel suspension

Vehicles shown previously include the XJ Stroker and the Wrangler Overland (I think).

Axletech portal axle ends are used on the "ImMortal" Jeep Wrangler Unlimited project vehicle. These are 42 inch tall tires! If 19 inches of clearance under the axles isn't enough to get your attention, the Axletech product can be fitted with CTIS.

This vehicle suffered damage at Moab when a journalist on a test drive made it fly off a jump. The landing broke a shock mount.

One new Mopar Underground vehicle will be based on the Jeep J8.
The vehicle is called the "Nukizer" (New Kaiser -- get it?), and has
the 2.8L diesel, soft top and 37 inch tires.

Sounds like it is not so immortal after all then, eah?

Personally I would LOVE to get a jeep that came stock with portal axles, that would be just as cool as the rubi when it came out. I think they should put one out with lockers and see if people buy it! Do a run like the rubi with only 8000 in the initial run, heck, we will buy them!

I have started a few other (and more detailed) threads on the Patriot, NuKaiser and Grand Canyon, but had a few images left from testing these new concept vehicles.

I drove the SWB Power Wagon. This truck is huge, and is built specifically for really short men. Actually, the truck is nicely balanced and everything works. Acceleration is strong and all of the electronic nannies are absent. This allowed for a full smorgasbord of shenanigans in the dunes -fun. Essentially, it is a 1/2 Ton coil rear end grafted to a Power Wagon. The exhaust was loud, the tire were big, and it drew a huge crowd.

You cannot see anything on the trail in front of you - not that it really matters. A mean machine.

Here is a simple build by Mopar, with their new trailer in tow. This trail deserves a more comprehensive test in the future. It pulled surprisingly well behind the Wrangler.

This looks pretty cool. Would work well with an AT Flippac considering the absence of the factory roll bar. Love the color too!
