Custom Outlander Sherpa II RL

I'm not the most electrically inclined individual, so I'm not sure of all that is planned for the trailer (Robert - Outlander Trailers - is taking care of that). I do know that I have a Honda generator, the 60w solar panel, and a dual battery set-up as well. I'm going to need to spend half a day with Robert to figure out how everything works.

I don't remember the exact specs on the A/C & heating unit, but it doesn't need much (the heat needs more than the A/C).

I will help out here. His solar panel will charge his batteries for all of his lighting needs. He will end up with LED floodlights all around and (I think) lighting for the interior of his boxes.

The generator is going to be for charging the batteries when the solar panel doesn't do the job, and direct power for the A/C Unit. His unit draws approximately 300 Watts for A/C and between 600-650 Watts for the Heater. The generator barely kicks up in Eco-Mode when you turn on the Heat.

All in all it is going to be one Bad MMM Trailer. You are going to love it man!

Thanks for breaking that down. And yes, LED lights will be mounted in the boxes as well...lots of lights.

It's going to be so cool to get that behind my Jeep soon. :D

What's the run-time of the generator on a tank of fuel? Won't be fun adding fuel at 0200 hours on a 5 degree night...

I didn't read that info on the generator...just bought it and sent it to Robert. Thankfully I will be traveling between April and September...so there shouldn't be any 5 degree nights. :) I know what you're saying though...I'll have to gauge the timing if I want my A/C or heat during a particular time.

Eco-Throttle - runs up to 8.3 hr on 0.6 gal. of fuel

That is what I just read, the throttle goes up only as much as needed for the power output. I bet you for the AC it will last all night.

Thanks Aggie. Oddly enough I just placed an order with REI the other day for various camping equipment. Looks like I'll be placing another one when I get back to FL. REI is a great place to shop. We've got one here in Alaska, but I think the closest one to FL is in Atlanta. No matter...I can get one from their website when the time comes or stop off at one of their stores when I hit the road in April.

Where in FL Bass Pro and Gander mountain carry them as well as other outfitters.

Thanks Aaron. Oddly enough, I'll be going to the Gander Mountain in St. Augustine today. That place is awesome...I could spend all day in there. :D

I'm 20 minutes from there now I Have a meeting near there. I'll see if I see your truck.

I use flip top bins similar to what Box Rocket posted in my military side job. They work well but they are not remotely weather or dust proof. Inside the trailer box they would be fine but if they get rained on they will let water inside. They can be found from a few manufacturers in the states but prices run 1.5 to 2.0 times the cost of the rubbermaid bins. Much sturdier however.
It all depends on your durability and weather requirements.

Outlander makes a fine trailer, I can wait to see this thing when it's done.

Trailer is shaping up very nicely!

What heater is being provided? I'd love to hear what can run on a 1K gen like the Honda or Yamaha (the one I have), the BTU rating, where I can get one, and how much it costs.

Not sure either. Although, in 4 weeks I'll be driving all over the country and I'd be more than happy to let anyone crawl all over the trailer if they'd like to get a good look at it. Seeing it in person may give you an idea how the A/C unit may be a benefit to you. The WFTW event schedule is located at www.wheelersforthewounded.org.

Nice design and fab work. IMHO I'd step to a honda 2000i it runs alot easier. I've run them both, we sold the 1000 and stepped to the 2000 for the lil bigger size and twice the juice it works nice. All Honda Generators are quiet and extremely fuel efficent. I can run the electric heater with fan blower for 8 hours on 1 gal with the 2000i.

I almost pulled the trigger on the Honda 2000i, but thought it may have been overkill since I won't be running anything requiring that much juice.

The Engel refrigerator is too large to fit into the main box portion of the trailer, so it will be relocated to the outside front area. I'm not worried about that at all and it will be nice to have access to it without having to open up the rear box.

The trailer has been getting powder coated and painted this week. Robert (Outlander Trailers) thinks it will be ready today, but is not 100% sure on that. I can hardly wait to see how it looks all blacked out. :D

Once it's powder coated and painted, Robert will then begin wiring everything up...which should be quite the chore. I'll post pictures when I get them.
