Sadly the high winds and salt caused everything I owned with metal on it (with the exception of the truck thank goodness) to rust like crazy. I couldnt stand to see her getting rust so the day I returned I contacted a local sandblaster and off she went. Sadly I had to leave her home for the trip to canada because of this but now Im back and she looks better than ever.

Well updating again. I took the trailer out a lot last month in AZ and it worked great except for the suspension being a little stiff. That will be my next project starting this week.

Well the shop was caught up in finishing a prerunner truck so my trailer fell back a little. It got new leafs however and I put on the matching size tires for my truck. I will take it out tomorrow to test the flex before bringing it back again for changes

Very nice! Keeping it black? Or matching the H3T?
It sits very nice with the truck.
What kind of top are you going with?

Hey thanks guys! I'm planning on matching it or at least close. The top will be in two sections. The bottom will be a 6" extension of the current lip giving the trailer more depth. Then there will be a 2" top connected to that. It will have a slight angle up to allow rain etc to flow off the trailer and not pool.
I'm honestly really frustrated with the shop I'm working with and hoping it turns out. I always see the best in people and my fear is it may bite me on this. They've had the trailer over a month and all they did was add new mounting points and leafs. In addition to that I paid him for the work he did and parts (250) but paid him 500 total for materials he ordered for the lid before he's even started. He hasn't even had time to "work up a quote" for the lid. I don't want to lose the extra 250 I paid in materials but I'm wondering if I should cut my losses and get out now. That soft tops looking good about now

So I spoke with the shop today. I will be removing a leaf from the spring set up to allow for more flex as it still sits too stiff. The extended sides will hopefully get done this week followed by the lid. My hope is that I can have this shop do the work but if he gets caught up with too much I will have to go elsewhere. Does anyone know what the average price for a lid is? I don't have much to reference a quote from when I get it in a day or two

Alright guys so finally an update. Shes done! Now let me catch you up on the last month and a half.
Disclaimer: This is simply the story of my experience with this fab shop. I will include the name so that others in the area may make their own decisions on the shop and may possibly avoid any bad dealings

I went to the fab shop to pick up the trailer long after it being due. Keep in mind I had at this point been contacting the owner every other day and he had not been making progress. Also I had worked with Vigilante Offroad before without too much to report just a little over estimate price but no big deal. I had paid up front more than the original quote for this project because the owner was in need of money for rent (this should have tipped me off to trouble) When I showed up he had completed the extended lip but informed me it was to be an additional amount totaling the project over 800 dollars!! I had a debate with him in which he informed me that the additional costs were from materials (which is what I paid him up front for) Needless to say I was frustrated but there was nothing I could do as he had ignored my requests for a written receipt in the past. I paid for the trailer and left at this point in time at which point the trailer looked like this minus the primer on the extended lip.

Now to be honest I was highly discouraged at this point. I had just been way overcharged for the little work that was done, and the money I had set aside for finishing the trailer had been completely blown. Enter one of the best companies I have had the pleasure of dealing with. I stopped by Adventure Trailers to check out their advice on sealing the gaps the former shop had left and to ask if they knew of anyone who sold tarps to cover the trailer which was my only option at this point. I talked to Clint who was extremely helpful. After a short conversation about the trailer I explained my terrible experience with the former shop. He thought he could help make it right and ran me through some options. After discussing what we would do I was overjoyed to say I would be dropping the trailer off in the following week. The past three weeks have been a blast watching the trailers progress and I am happy to say it is now finished. I will let the pictures speak for themselves. I will say however that Dave Clint and Martyn are some of the best people I have worked with and I would recommend Adventure Trailers to anyone who loves quality work, ethical people, timely production, and overall great companies. If you don't enjoy these things however then I have a shop to recommend for you as well!
