And if it occurs after a muddy excursion, always cleans the wheels and tires before freaking out!

If mud accumulation on the wheels is causing death wobble (as opposed to just severe vibration) there's a good chance you have worn steering and/or suspension components that just haven't shown up yet under "normal" conditions.
