Hey everyone next on the list of mods is Deaver springs prob a nine or ten pack. I was just curious I have never really seen on here about how much they run in price. Just wondering how much cash I need to save up for this investment.

Wheelers has the 8 pack at 585 a set, plan another hundred for each additional leaf. make sure you give Deaver details like how much lift you want, and how much weight you carry as a dd and loaded.

All I can say from running the Expeditions West Tacoma down a sandy, whoop filled dirt road is that they're worth it!

I printed out the order form and am planning on weighing my truck tomorrow afternoon. Thanks for the quick response.

Where in San Diego are you getting your truck weighed? Normally I'd go down to the local farmer's co-op and do it, but they seem to in short supply around here.

Thanks,

I heard alcans are better for carrying weight on a regular basis, anyone have an opinion on this?

I'd like to talk with the guy who has run both to know for sure. I have Deaver 8's and they do nore than what I need. I had about 600 pounds of junk in the back on a move from California to Texas and they didn't settle one bit. They took the weight like a champ. I spoke with Deaver about my needs brefore I bought them and they reccomenced the 8 pack. I can't say enough good about them.

I have heard a lot of good things about deaver. Actually come to think of it I have yet to hear a negative besides the price of course. I actually have to hold off on my purchase, this morning my taco decided that it didnt like its ignition and wanted a new one. When I started my truck the starter stayed engaged so I turned it off and pulled the key out and it continued to try and start :). Im sure it will be a nice cheap dealership part right?......

Since you are in San Diego it shouldn't be a decision at all. Deaver is in Santa Ana so it would be a non issue to go have an extra leaf installed or something. Get the 9's and if they aren't enough, go back and beef them up.

Scott is great to deal with and super helpful. You can also tell him you heard his name on ExPo. It's been nearly one year since I spoke to Scott so he may or may not be doing the same job but give it a shot.

I'm sure all you need is to "refresh" your starter. Take a quick look at the Tacoma Starter Failure at 135K miles here it's about $30 in parts and easy to do. I've fixed two V6 using this method so far.
Good luck.

Cheers ,

I initially thought it was my starter as well but since it continues to turnover even when my key is out of the ignition I figured it was prob my ignition and not the starter. Is that typical of a starter problem to continue to turnover without the key?

Oh and thx for that contact information on deaver I will definetly give him a call and let him know what I have and need.

So it ended up being the starter which did not make any sense to me but oh well its fixed now. By the way what is the easiest way to get a starter out on a 96 tacoma it was near impossible for me without a little inner fender cutting.
