Decision making on a new rig.

find a nice 2nd gen runner with a 22re in it dont go 3.0 unless you want to upgrade power plants. If your set on making a expo rig then I dont see why 4runner wouldnt be a perfect fit. Do a sas with a 85 axle not 84 (85's have a better gusset) then for the rear all you need is longer coils and panhard bar ext. brake lines and your set! not to mention plenty of waterproof space to store gear/sleep

Well im sure the weights of the first and second gen 4runners are close. However; with the removeable top on the 4runner that lessens the weight by probably about 150lbs. Now with that said, i think i have made my decision. I beieve i am going to get a truck. Short bed 90-95 truck with the 22re. If i am lucky i can find a R151F turbo transmission, manual of course. I have already started a list of things to do and a list of things i want to buy along with a budget.

i think the build will be in 3 stages. With the budget i alloted for my original plan for the cherokee i still save about 2k for just stage one, of course thats the most expencive stage. After that things are relitively cheap. total without the purchace price of the vehicle, 5k.

stage one
4in lift, sas.
lockers (arb up front, detroit tru track rear)
cb
rear canopy/ can back
bucket seats
center console
overhead console
lights
secondary fuse block
winch
dual batteries
bumpers
trail armor
skid plate cross member

Stage two
RTT
Storage solution (boxes)
mid rack system for the bed housing tool box and recovery equip.
navigation
better communication solution (3m radio)

Stage three

fix any probems that have occured
aux fuel tank

any one have any suggestions?
