Ok, so do we think the Defenders are ever going to get cheaper here in the US?
I just cant pull the trigger for a beautiful defender that is over 25k.
Everywhere else these things are going for so much less its freakin crazy.

I bet if the new ones that do make it over here are independent suspension it'll make all the old ones go UP by 10,000 overnight ;) Just go ahead and buy it

Thanks Rijo,
I also look at the d90 website all of the time.
I am looking for a TD/man rig.
There was a sweet 130 double cab that i tried to buy a few months ago.
It sold in two days or something for something like 14k or 15k.

And thanks for giving me another excuse to look at D110's over in the UK :)

Thanks guys. I do what I can to dilute the pool. I have brought in several hundred 110's @ this point but that supply doesn't seem to have impacted what the owners sell them for here. Demand is just that great. It doesn't help that LR didn't make many trucks in the early years because they were still cranking out series 3's for the MOD. I have also brought in Pinz, mogs, and Volvo 303's.

There are thousands of used late model Defenders in the world FS <$25K. In Costa Rica there are close to two dozen FS right now. (I have a few buddies down there who own them) But...as we know....can't bring'm in to the US.... And, while there are thousands of used 90s and 110s >25 years old in the world, at this point they are just old trucks....with Lucas wiring....

Reverse the scenario, If you were living in Africa would you want to import an mid 80s F250 with 200K miles on it?

I have not seen any cheap Defenders anywhere in the USA that were in awesome condition. I have seen cheap junkers.

The reason I purchased my H1 Hummer is because it was $20,000 less expensive than a much older Defender 110.

Even in Australia, it was hard to find a cheap Defender that was ready for the outback. If you got something cheap, you would have to put lots of money into it to get it ready for expeditionary travel.

I purchased Defenders in Australia, New Zealand, and Saudi Arabia outside the USA, and a good one that is ready to go on an expedition costs a lot of money.

If Land Rover brought a real Defender 110 into the USA, I think it would sell for more than $50,000. With that perspective, I would look at prospective purchases from the point of view of what kind of shape it is in, and what you plan to do with it. If you are going to drive around the world, you will want a vehicle that is in top notch shape, and it is going to cost real money.
