That's coming together really well. Can't wait to see the finished product.

Me too!!! Going to get the 16guage metal for the lower box sides tomorrow.

Anyone know a way to waterproof piano hinges? Or is there another type of hinge I should replace them with?

Use sheet metal. I just spent $80 on 14' of 18 gauge , 19" high. Plus it will keep with the sides that are on there now. Awesome idea.

Use sheet metal. I just spent $80 on 14' of 20 gauge , 19" high. Plus it will keep with the sides that are on there now. Awesome idea.

I already had some 16 gauge sheet metal cut for the sides. Getting a lip bent on it and primered tomorrow. Wooohoo!

What a great build. The doors on the sides will make for super easy access to your gear. Looking forward to watching this build.

Got the fenders on and the sheet metal bent for the bottom part of the box.

I have to say this is a pretty awesome build. I honestly would of never though of using an old compressor trailer as the base to an adventure trailer. I definetley cant wait to see the end result. Great job man.

I put my sheet metal on the bottom box and reattached my fenders. It's finally starting to come together. This week I'll try to find some scrap diamond plate to cover the step areas in front of and behind the fenders. I also hope to get the Toyota leaf springs and shocks swapped on. Still looking for a suitable weather proof hinge to replace the 2 main piano hinges....

If the hinges are riveted on, you can put a layer of rubber or poly over the hinge and then rivet it back on. That way your hinges are under the cover and it will seal the seam also. Garage door seal is a poly type, and flat. It's the seal you would put bellow a garage door.
Or you can spot weld a gutter above the hinges and then seam seal it.
That is a great idea, using that trailer. Massive storage space.

Good idea on covering the existing piano hinges with rubber or poly... New hurricane hinges would work too but I'm trying to keep cost down.

If anyone else has ideas or suggestions, I would love to hear them.. Whether it's about weather proofing hinges or anything else. This is my first trailer build. I appreciate the feedback! Thanks!

I've done quite a bit of searching but can't find a good source for a 5 lug to 6 lug adapter. I want to match my trailer wheels to my Toyota 4Runner and need a little extra spacing to center with the fenders too. It may be cheaper to just change the hubs.... Anyone have suggestions?
