Wow that is clean. I don't think price is too far off at 8k the conversion took 4 or 5 I bet. It also looks like it might have had paint. 8k is not too bad. Too bad I am 7900 short....

That syncro is awesome. I met a doctor from colorado in mex a few years back who was doing those conversions. His was a westphalia syncro. Pretty awesome rig. The oil pans hang a bit low though, I had to take his to a shop for some welding as it no longer held oil...

16 Years on ExPo. Whoa!!
says "conversion" in the description. Definitely one of those "drive it first" items particularly as that is really low volume on that engine. That said Oregon vehicles hold up really well. The cleanest FJ55 I've ever seen lives in Vancouver Washington just across the river...

They want $8k for that? :xxrotflma

Sorry but that's ridiculous. You can get a 1st Gen Monty with a blown engine for about $500. And I'll bet you can build your own for less than $7500.

I have been half-***** looking at JDM Toy Cruisers that have been imported here, I hear the 2.5 diesels are a bit gutless, but the larger engines (can't recall the size at this moment) have decent power and pickup.
Do the Pajeros have a larger diesel engine?

I like diesels but in the smaller 4x4 I dont see huge benefits.
You would get a LWB T/D factory version in OZ for $2K USD but with higher miles.

I drove across Tanzania in a 2.5 PJ it was kinda gutless. It would be a real turd on the freeway here in the us.

The 1993 Pajero has a 2.8L Turbo diesel in it. The 2.5 is gutless on hills but on the highway flats 110 km... I think that is the problem, in North America we don't comprimise our wants with our needs. Look where it has landed the big 3 auto makers. We need to change how we think of driving to accept more fuel efficient vehicles. For example, I can only speak about BC where I live, but the way they measure emissions is stupid, they count the % of a particulate being emitted, so a RHD JDM 660 cc Kei truck might have the same emission % as an Escalade. Who cares that the Escalade spits out 10 times the emissions. They are considered the same because the % of pollutants in the measurement is the same... crazy.

Let's not, it makes my head hurt. lol

I'm just wondering if the Pajero would have adequate power to pull itself up over larger hills, fully loaded pulling a trailer etc.

I know the Toy LC's with the larger T/D engine (I remember now, it's the 4.2L) seem to have plenty of power and torque to accomplish those tasks.
That price on te Mitsu is much lower than what i've seen for the LC's though.
Up here i've seen them for anywhere from $12,000 up over $22/25,000.

I know the outfits selling them for the low 20's have gone through them and checked them out extensively, but I would still feel hard-pressed to buy a 15 year old truck for $20,000+...
