I will be doing the TAT this coming may for two months and want to start getting the jeep ready. I will be towing a offered trailer behind me. not sure if that matters or not when choosing oil but i remember reading somewhere it matters on the weight.

Those of you that tow what weight and brand are you running?

80w90 is fine for pretty much everything. I went to a little heavier oil when I put the Aussie locker in my XJ to try and keep things quiet so my wife didn't freak out when she drove it.

I've always ran Lucas 85-140 in my XJ's. I tow frequently with them and the Lucas has always served me well. Plus, it has friction modifier in it for LSD's :victory:

If you look at your vehicle's manual I think this weight is noted for those who tow or use their vehicle offroad.

:sombrero: I'd recommend Valvoline Synthetic--75w-140 is advised for towing cap.

I use it in both diff's on my jeep/w 5.38 gears and it's especially superior for towing, because of temp./load capabilities !

Good luck

Awesome thanks guys! I can't use anything for limited slip due to having ARB lockers front and rear. Looks like I'm either going to go 75-140 if i can find it or 85-140!

75-140 is what I remember putting in the ZJ...it specifically said use 75-140 for towing somewhere, can't remember where....

As others said, get friction modifier for LSD if you have it....make sure you go to MOPAR and get the modifier.

:sombrero: All of the top 75w-140 synthetics contain the LSD addition--

No problems
