A couple of the things we've raced over the years.
This 1600 we built from scratch and raced for many years before we built a single seat (The rules favored single seaters). We won the Pro Desert series as well as SADR series in the car. We also took it to Baja for SCORE, Nevada for SNORE series.
This is me finishing on a flat tire I'd been nursing for about 40 miles. It stayed on the rim since most of the cars weight is over the rear (Engine/Trans/Fuel Tank) until I hit the brakes at the finish line. Very happy to have won despite the flat.
The first race in that car didn't go as planned. Build, break, rebuild, break.
Back in those days if we didn't race the "car" I'd enter my dirt bike, whatever it was at the time. I couldn't get enough.
Icon Vehicle Dynamics was once called Donahoe Racing and in those days we built racecars as well as lift kits. Toyota gave us a stock Tacoma double cab to build into a "Stock Mini" class racecar and race at the Baja 1000. It was slow and heavy, as all production based cars usually are, but we kept the windshield, AC and stereo so it was a heck of a fun time to race!!
This race I'll be navigating this 12 car being raced in class 10. It's in class 10 because the engine needs to be Volkswagen based to be in class 12. (Hence the beam front end etc) It's now running an Ecotec so despite it having less wheel travel than most class 10's we think it will do well. We'll be in the car for the longest section from Race Mile 275 to RM605.
