Disabled Explorers Ride-A-Long May 10th, 2008

Good Morning Al,
Your welcome to stay with Amy and I Friday night, if you like. It would add a little to the drive since we are on the east side of Phoenix. The meeting place is about an hour from us. If others caravan with you, they would also be welcome.

Lance what time on Saturday do you think the event will be over?
BTW, The Jeep will only have 1 passenger sit! other then the driver sit.

I will be leaving the Friday before around 12 noon or so. anyone that wants to Caravan let me know. I have a friend in PHX I will try and stay at his place Friday night, then drive home Saturday after the event, I might camp along the way home.

What can an AKA say that no one else can and get away with it.

It is really cool that she is supportive and that you are willing to drive all the way over here for a 1 day event...I can't thank you & Al enough for that!
The planned timeframe for the event is to meet @ 8am meet & greet, drivers/passenger meeting, load up and leave by 9am...taking our time on the trail will put us in Seven Springs campground around noon for a hot dog cookout...after that it is up to folks when they take off.
It would be nice if there was a bit of hanging out in case any of the disabled folks want to check out rigs, ask questions or such.....but I understand that folks might have something else to do.

So you could starting heading back to Socal anytime after 12 and detour or explore on the way back...I highly recommend Picacho State Park on the Colorado (search here for great trip reports) and there are some fun dirt roads west of that (Indian Pass or something like that)...

Just got a call from an old friend, (another 1 legger) Might stay over Saturday night to hang out with him. Cool thing is he told me he has a jeep 05 TJ. I'm trying to talk him into coming out Saturday. might not be doing Picacho.

I'm working on it.
I invited him to this event. He didn't say either way. But he called to tell me He was moving back to San diego.

Want to here something strange, Kind of Bad news!. My buddy called last night out of the blue to tell me he was moving back to SD. He lost his left leg AK because of Cancer, when we were in High School, I lost my Left leg a year after high school, again same cancer. My Mom e-mails me today, that a friend in her church has a Daughter that goes to the same high school now, she was just diagnosed with the same cancer in the Leg.

I will be totally free the 9,10 and 11. Have one seat in the jeep and can take someone one on the trip or from meeting place to lunch area. also can go early on 9 to secure lunch spot etc. PM with what i can do to help. thanks for all that you are doing.
