Dodge and Toyota Through Mojave and Beyond

After a year of planning, my old boss, his uncle and I traveled the Mojave Road last month starting March 15th. Our original plan was to continue on into Death Valley, but all of us coming from a life of Redwood trees, and the ocean breeze, the heat was getting to us. So we traveled up HWY395 after exiting the Mojave Road. We camped at Alabama Hills BLM Campgrounds below Mt. Whitney, outside Lone Pine. Beautiful area! From there we traveled back down 395 and up into Kennedy Meadows area and took dirt roads out to HWY178, then back home. Our last day of our trip ending having lunch on the wharf in Monterrey. In all we were on the road for 5 days. Great trip! Big thanks to the Mojave Road guide book, gave us a lot of information and fun side trips. Also the FourWheel Camper is awesome!! Trucks ran great and the only problem was forgetting to fill the water tank in the camper before we left. Enough of the story and more of what you really want, pictures!!

Looks like a great time! I just went out to soda lake myself. Did you get a chance to see the painted rock? Where were those awesome cave pictures taken?

Cool picture report. The pictures speak by their own. Unfortunately is a hot place, but is one of my pending places to visit
Thanks for sharing it.

We did see the painted rock, very cool! The cave is after Soda Lake, after the large wash and dunes. It's about a 2 mile detour but well worth it! Thanks for the comments!

Thanks! I guess it being in the low 90s and 80s it could have been worse. Definitely a place worth checking out!
