Looking good Bill!

Any future plans?

Thanks :)

No, I don't think I do. I have found what I believe to be the best balance between modifications and weight for my rig. I'm not real happy with the quality of the cross members of the OEM roof rack, so may replace that one day. Other than that, I think I am at peace with how I have it now :)

Great looking FJ and great pictures! On your TRD CAI, I was reading somewhere, maybe TRDParts4U, that this voids part of your warranty, have you heard this?

No. Especially the TRD intake would not void any part of the warranty. Toyota would need to prove that the said part was the cause for failure of whatever engine issues were being had, and that's not going to happen with a TRD CAI. ...but my warranty is over anyway, so I'm just paying for whatever I break :smilies27

I remember what daverami is talking about. There was a disclaimer on the page for the TRD CAI on the TRDParts4U.com website. I can't remember exactly what it said, but it was something along the lines of the part not being compatible witht the Toyota factory warranty. I remember it specifically because I was wondering how they could say that a OEM Toyota component would void your warranty. I just checked their website, and they must've removed that note because I couldn't find it on the TRD CAI page for either the Tacoma or the FJ.

With your permission, I would like to feature your vehicle at the Dubai off road club. There are huge users as well as fans of FJ there and this would be truly appreciated.

Be my guest. It would be my honor. :)

Even at that, TRDParts4U could have just been covering their behind a little, just in case. It seems there is always somebody trying to work the system for free this and free that and they may have just been being cautious.

Sweet pic, Dragon. I'd put your FJ towards the top of the list of Cruisers that I've seen. I like that you picked a theme, stuck with it, finished it, and said "ok, I'm done for now" when it was tastefully completed. It seems like a lot of people bitten by the mod bug can never stop, and they start putting stuff on their trucks just because its something else to have.

Somewhat off-topic, but how long does it take you to clean your FJ after you've been through some nasty stuff like that? I ask only because I'm really hesitant to take my truck through any mud, since back in my younger days I used to go "mudding" with friends, and I remember what an absolute nightmare it was to clean my truck up afterwards. Not to mention it seemed like no matter how much you cleaned it, you could never get it totally clean.

You're right about the mud, and thanks for the compliment :) . I continually tell myself that I am finished with mud, but sometimes I guess my craving for off-roading and the fact that I live in flat land get the better of me.

So far, since I took this photo yesterday morning, I have spent $9 in quarters at a high pressure spray do-it-yourself carwash, spraying out the suspension, spraying out the engine bay, spraying the chasis/diff/trans etc from all of the cabbage, and taking a layer of grime off of the exterior. I then spent another $9 taking it through an automatic (but touchless) car wash. I then spent this entire morning cleaning the engine and then using a vinyl cleaner/protectant on all of the hoses I could reach. I used the same vinyl protectant on the black trim on the exterior. I washed and put protectant on the wheels and tires. It's "ok" right now, but it will take another $10 or so of quarters to get it to the cleanliness that I am so anal about. ...and in two weeks I'll be in Harlan, KY at an off-road event. ...but I plan on staying out of the mud :smilies27

The bottom line is this; if you play in the mud it will always be with you. I've had the cab filled with muddy water higher than the gas pedal and it took me 6 months to get the interior decent enough to go out on a date

If you want to dance, you have to pay the DJ. If you want to mud, you have to be willing to use some elbow grease to get it clean. Mud and grit are very very harmfull to any bearings, pulleys, hoses, transmissions, differentials, etc etc etc.

That's something I've always wondered - I've talked to and read about guys that flood their cab with mud/water. I guess as long as you don't get the ECU or the air intake under water, you're mostly okay? Once you've gotten water in there, how do you get it cleaned up? Do you have to strip the interior out and clean it, or do you just shampoo/etc the carpet and clean everything as best you can? Sorry for hijacking your build thread

Oh, it's no hijack at all :)
The FJC has plastic floorboards, so no need to do anything with carpeting. It just took a lot of paper towels, a lot of Murphy's Oil Soap, and a lot of Aerospace 303 protectant.

Kind of in the wrong section man. You should have posted this in the Land Cruiser section in my opinion, not the 4 Runner section.

...and listen to people tell me how it isn't a Landcruiser? No thanks. :hehe:
This forum is: (and note the commas)
Toyota: Tacoma, Truck, 4Runner

This would fall under "Truck" more than anything else :)
