Drove a TDI Hilux Tiger today...

So I was on my way to the barber shop to get my haircut on my motorbike, when out of the corner of my eye I saw what looked like a Hilux Tiger. These things were brought in at one point as grey-market imports from Thailand. I stopped the bike, turned around and made a line for the truck. When I got there, it was on and there was someone in the driver´s seat. He rolled down the window, and I asked, "is this a Hilux Tiger?". Positive. We chatted for a few minutes and the owner asked me if I wanted to take it for a spin. He had been trying to sell it for weeks so he was keen to let a prospective buyer go for a joy ride.

I took it for a ride, and the clearest impression and lasting memory was the grunt of the engine. Whoa, letting go of the clutch shows the three-liter KZ engine´s got some serious grunt down where it counts. Nice truck. Very nice truck. He wants US$20,000 for the year-2002 rig with 80k kilometers on the clock.

I have no idea how to value one of these-especially for the market in Bali but 2002 Taco 4x4 with 52(ish)K miles would probably be in the same area. I'm using a SR5 double cab as a comparison and $20k would be a little high but pretty normal for a starting place at a dealer.

Now think how much more you would pay for that Taco with a 3.0 liter turbo diesel 5spd!!!!!!
