Moody
Needs to get out more
Started the dual battery setup in my rig this weekend. I have the National Luna system, battery, and everything else needed, with the exception of the cigarette lighter plugs for the cargo area.
I began the install by relocating the washer bottle using the Slee kit
($47.00). The install is very straightforward, even for a novice like me. I think the hardest part was soldering the wire extensions on for the washer pump.
A friend ordered the second battery tray for me (we are both doing the same system) through "CruiserDan" on IH8MUD. It required some modification to fit, but the holes are already there to bolt it right into the fender.
I purchased a Kirkland Signature Deep Cycle battery from Costco for around 85.00 to use as the second battery.
[For what it's worth, I ran my 35 qt. Engel for a week off of the battery, while it was sitting in the back of my car, and it kept the food nice and cold, between 31-37 degrees]
As it stands now, I have the washer bottle relocated and the second battery tray installed. This weekend I will get the National Luna installed, and drive around daily with cold drinks ready to go! I will post pictures of the progress...
