Dual cab tilt?

There is not a factory tilt on north american crew cabs, only interior and exterior engine access.. I have been told that the double cabs can be made to tilt, as the front attachment is the same. They would be quite difficult to tilt up without assistance (some type of hydraulic or pneumatic cylinder) or two strong guys.
You should be able to find a manual online to show things like oil and power steering fluid checks..

Hi and welcome, lift up the left hand seat and open the hatch under the seat.
We have a FG649 it has a dip stick to check th ps fluid , i think when i flushed ours i took the drivers seat out to get to it all.

Thanks for the response DzlToy and PKDreamers.
I removed the rear mount bolts and attempted to lift the cab with a highlift jack as it was too heavy for two people to lift. Got it to go up about 50 mm but was woried something else might be attached. I need to do a bit more investigating underneath expecially around the steering.
I found the panel that you mentioned PKDreamers and will get to the power steering reservoir that way for now. However I am still keen to tilt the cab if it can be done.
By the way PKDreamers I like your tent on the back that is exactly what I intend to do with our tent until I build a camper on the back that you dont have to put up except the pop top part.

Yeah, you'll find 2 more underneath ....roughly inline with the rear of the seats........actually they are in the same location as the cab lockdown hooks on the single cabs. I've never actually lifted one but I know those mounts are there for sure. Have a good look around as it's coming up. Be careful....they are heavy suckers.

I am sure if you remove the covering behind the front seats on what i could call the fire wall there is two panels one on the left one the right i am sure the bolt heads are behind there .
The tent works well for us on the back of the truck as like you one day we will build a camper on the back when we find that dollar tree.

Yeah, we did one an electric one for the single cabs but unless you had a disability or a really heavy cab with a roof rack or something I don't think it would be worth it. Still retained the cab lock down. That'd be the trouble with doing one for the double cab....the lock down.
Hey, have you got any cracks around your rear mounts (the rear ones that Andrew undid first) ....up on the back wall of the cab? Don't panic or anything....I have seen them before and have a solution in mind if it's going to be an issue with them. It may have been that the one I saw with cracks was a bit overworked on the corrugations.
Under the pump....not much time off lately at all but get this >>>> Won a 5 star weekend away up at Malaney this weekend. Not usually my scene but had a raffle ticket thrown in with a couple of coffees down at the local cafe. Doesn't get any cheaper than that. Leaving the Blackberry on my desk and got the outlaws looking after the animals......4 legged and 2 legged. Yippee. Can't wait.......not an FG , NPS, FSS, FTS, MAN within cooee. ............so yeah, doing good , thanks for asking.
Hope all the families well and you'll get a chance to head out this winter. Should be some good times as soon as it dries out a little.

that was a very interesting read. I got side tracked for about an hour last night reading that.
Wel I have had sucess today lifting my cab. It is very easy when you undo all the mounts! (thanks to Pete and John for guidance)
Still lifting with a highlift jack so not lifting it all the way. Now to find a mechanisim to do the lifting for me and all will be good.
I removed the panel under the drivers seat and checked the power steering fluid. That was a pain, three diffrent size nuts/bolts to hold in the seat.
I think lifting the cab when I develop some sort of lifting device that is safer than a highlift jack, that will be the way to go.
